Control Arms

Ok so i pressed out the bushings in my control arm before i got the energy suspension bushings and the instructions. Which state in large bold letters DO NOT PRESS OUT THE SLEEVE just the rubber bushings. So i can't get the sleeve back in without bending the control arm because i have already bent it trying to get the sleeve in. So now i need a new control arm just want to make sure and see if anyone makes a aftermarket lower front control arm. Yea before anyone else says it i am a dumb shit.

S14

Thanks guys,
Jonathan Hartley

You're not experiencing anything new. The Whiteline bushings come with new sleeves and require them to be pressed in, just like you're trying now. The problem is you haven't thought it all the way through.
Take a wooden block or similiar object and wedge it into the control arm at the farthest point back, keeping it fully spread out. Now you can beat the sleeve in with nearly anything and keep the arm from bending in on itself. Use plenty of lithium grease to guide it in and keep it from seizing.
Your only other options for a new arms are splparts at $580/pair, Cusco at $830/pair, or the Nismo at about $320/pair unless you go back with OE.

and try freezing the metal sleeve... supposedly it will shrink it a little so it will go in easier.

I did the bushings a while ago but I don't remember reading that on the instructions. I am pretty sure the bushings are a part of the sleeve.

yea the bushings are a part of the sleeve but, i was supposed to just press out the bushings. Oh well you live and you learn thats how it goes. I am giong to try again tonight and put the block in the middle so i don't bend the control arm anymore. I just got super frustrated and couldn't think so as usual i came to good ole zilvia. Thanks for all the help guys we will see what happens. Those freaking spl control arms are badass thanks for the site.

Thanks
Jonathan Hartley
