silvia oem brakes problems

i just installed some s13 silvia rotors and calipers....the install was perfect everything went smoothly...then when i bled the brakes with my buddy the brakes would hold stiffness. bled it bled it checked the lines no leaks...so im guess this may be a master cylinder issue but...the fluid comes out perfectly when we bled it.all lines were tighten securely.im wondering if this is a brake booster related problem...could i use the rhd booster on the lhd car.i looked at them and they seem to be the same. also since its bigger brakes and calipers am i just am lack of pressure with the stock cylinder? let me know.and btw i searched and there was nothin but 300 zx caliper conversion.if there is a link to faq about it too that would be great thx.

No, the RHD MC is only for RHD. The lines go the wrong way.

It's hard to say. I'm not sure if you bled it correctly. One little mistake and you'll be worse off than when you started. Follow the procedures listed in the FSM and bleed them in sequence. Do it twice to make sure there are no bubbles coming out.

Did you install the calipers the right way, with the bleeder screw pointed up?

as i stated im not using the mastercylinder from the rhd ...i stated booster (booster) not mc ....im postive the needle bleeder is pionted up ..im not that idiotic. i started from rear passenger and worked my way around for 3 hours. i just need feedback on if the stock mc can handle the bigger calipers fine too. this isnt making me as stressed out as my hicas model though so thats a great thing.thanks for the reply g6civic but that isnt on the money

if all fails....there a rod underneath the dash coming from the booster...u can adjust that.....its pretty much trial and error for this method....but only tighten or loosen just a little bit....good luck

Oh, my mistake. Sorry about that.

Yes, I have the JDM 180SX front brakes on there with the stock booster. It works just fine. Very firm pedal feel. Stops well. The calipers are the same as those that came on the mid-90s Altimas and Maximas.

The stock master cylinder leaks all the time so it's not a big surprise if yours is. Check up on this if you decide to open it up: http://www.advanceautoparts.com/engl...0020701bm.html

As far as LHD vs. RHD booster, I am not sure because I have no attempted this. You can try but be careful and read that link above before you try.

Maybe one of your calipers is leaking. Old crappy calipers will do that to you.

Good luck and let us know how it works out.

turns out the booster went bad added with the driver side seal to the caliper leaked. i ahve to drop it off in anaheim to have a repair gasket kit custom made...unless someone else knows where i can get a kit for it. either that or i need someone with a spare driver side caliper for sale.either way my car is undriveable . should i repair them or should just go with stock ? i dont know if its worth all this trouble for an inch more of rotor...but a inch more is a inch more of cooling and sruface area. when i got the front clip the brakes were pretty clean as far as i can tell. but oh well. oh also the upgraded rotors seem to make friction with the dusk guard....should i hammer it back or dremel a tad bit off. jw about ur setup.thx

That's par for this course. Old crappy brakes will do that to you.

Every little bit helps, but stock brakes with good pads and discs will stop much much better than Z32 brakes with crappy discs and pads. I think at this point it's easier to go with stock if you still have them instead of trying to fix it.

I just took off the mud guard completely. If you want to keep it, you have to trim off the edges as it won't clear the bigger disc.

See if you can get a rebuild mid 90s Maxima/Altima caliper. They should be the same, but compare the two to see if you can use them. Rebuilding the caliper yourself isn't worth it if you can get rebuilt ones from the store.

Of course. Don't say Silvia. A general repair shop won't know what it is. Just go to an auto parts store and get a rebuilt mid 90s maxima or altima caliper.

stop being a wuss and get Z brakes. theres almost no difference in stopping power with silvia brakes. Ive had Z brakes for 3 years and seen friends get silvia brakes,q45, altima or whatever, then kick themselves in the ass when i outbrake them in every corner.
