Timing Chain Rattle FIXED! + Valve Cover Hotness [Pics]

Went to my friend Randy's yesterday and tore down my car while he was do some pimping of his own.

Replaced the valve cover gasket, removed the timing chaing guides, cleaned up the chain tensioner and painted my valve cover. While there I also removed the mechanical fan and replaced a bunch of belts.

It went pretty well but took foreverfor various reasons, including several WRONG parts that AZ sold me. They are going to refnd my money though so I'm not too annoyed.. just had to go to hell and back to get the right stuff.

I still have to tear into it later and replace the cams themselves but that isnt a priority. I havent cleaned up the engine bay yet due to the paint not setting in but hopefully I'll get it done before Tuesday.

Pics!

Twin-Cam goodness, its normal for there to be some slack in the chain, the tensioner operates by oil pressure. You can assure your chain isnt stretched by putting the tensioner against the chain... if it reaches full extension and still has slack than it's time to replace the chain...

Nasty guides removed, you can see the grooving from the chains/

Painting up my valvecover.

All clean and ready to install.

Installed and looking pretty. Need to clean everything else still.

I broke this, not sure what it goes to (possibly EGR) but it didnt effect driving.

I'm looking to pick up some Altima electric fans at the junk yard but the single electric fan for the A/C is working okay for now. I'd go into better detail about everything but I'm still tired. :/

In short the guide posted about timing chain rattle repair was infinately helpful.
