shimming oil pump for more pressure

Ive heard in alot of places but not seen explained the idea of shimming the oil pump to get more pressure out of it. Can someone elaborate on this concept? How thick should the shims be to make x difference? I want to do this to my SOHC to get some extra pressure out of her. Anyone want to actually break it down for me? Where is this spring located/ how do I get to it?

I know I can use a 280zx pump and thats a good thing, however I would rather just shim the stock pump for an extra 15psi or so of pressure for free (or almost free). Theres no need to spend 100$ if I dont need to, stock pumps are almost indestructable and if it blows up, I have another. I think I figured how to get to the valve but I dont know how much I need to shim however

Unscrew the large hex plug on the oil pump and the springs are inside. You can put washers inside the hex plug to increase spring compression and therefore increase pressure. I don't know the thickness required for +15 psi but its just trial and error type of thing anyway.

Nissan Motorsports also sells stiffer springs for both the inner and outer springs. You can change one or both to get the pressure you need...but again, the shimming method is much cheaper.
