wiring messed up, or just overlooking a fuse?
i've had my 93 s13 for about 6 months now. it was all sorts of jacked up and still is for the most part, but for the entire time i've owned it, it has had no constant 12-volt, meaning seatbelts wouldn't move when you open/close the door, radio reset with ignition shut off, clock constantly resets to 1:00 after restarting, etc. i installed a radio 2 days after i bought the car and had problems blowing fuses til i found a dime in the cigarette lighter. removed it and replace the fuse and suddenly we had power and it worked, but still had no constant 12v. haven't worried much about it since then because i've been doing cosmetic things to it, but it's time to have a go.
here's what i'm thinking, the guy who owned it before me got the dime stuck in the cig. lighter, but couldn't figure it out so he tried to wire around it, in the process fucking up something else. well, i can't find where it might be wired wrong..so i come to you guys.
anyone, have any idea what is wrong? as soon as the ignition is in the 'on' position, things work... but! my headlights and indicator lights work just fine with no power at all. is there a fuse i don't know about or is there a wire i should check, and if so where is it? i'll be pulling out my center console and seats and everything tomorrow so hopefully i can get a few good ideas before then and kind of do it all at once. there's no real helpful information in the chilton book as far as i can tell..
thanks guys for reading, sorry for the long post.
