hmmm... choices choices. Okay! here's my situation: I've ordered my KGMM S21 SuperSport springs for my s14 (4.6kg f/ 4.0kg r), and now I'm going to be choosing some struts/shocks to mate them with. In this post, I'll involve 3 shock setups -- Tokico Illuminas, GAB Super HPs, and Koni Yellows.
The main comparison is between shocks that have adjustable rebound only with a constant compression rate (koni) vs. shocks that adjust both compression and rebound simultaneously (tokico and gab). So far, I'm thinking that I'll let the springs do the compressing and let the shocks do the rebounding. I'm afraid that if I get a set of GABs, because they adjust compression and rebound simultaneously, there's a chance that no matter what setting the shock is on, it won't be able to dampen my 4.6kg/mm front and 4.0kg/mm rear springs. You see, because if I want a higher damping level, I'll turn the knob, but it will also increase the compression stiffness, and so turning the knob would have been pointless. This is what's causing me to lean a little bit towards Koni Yellows. With those, I'll simply adjust the damping until they feel just right. Anyways, I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could give me their advice with this decision. Oh, and ride comfort is not a big deal -- I'm young and my ass can handle a bumpy road. Remember... Koni Yellows(adj.rebound) vs. Tokico Illuminas(reb.&comp.) vs. GAB Super HPs. (reb.&comp.) *Thanks in advance. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=' ![]()
