Factory Alarm system in S14 goes off randomly...

I recently picked up this fixer-upper for dirt cheap, and the previous owner says when you lock the car, the alarm will randomly go off.

I figured it was due to the low battery and maybe due to the fact he had no remote for the factory alarm system.

So I went and got a new key fob remote from the Nissan dealership. Programmed it and it works without any problems

Then I replaced the battery since it was so weak.

The problem was fixed for about a week or two then it starts going off randomly, one time at 4am!...lol

anyways, I've just been leaving it unlocked, but I'd like to resolve it.

Anyone ever have any experiences with this?

I haven't really looked at it, just left it sitting there, but since I'm at work and bored, I figured I'd try to get an idea of what maybe could be the possible cause.

anyways, thanks for the help guys

Has the car been hit in the front, even lightly???

If so, then I can almost guarantee the answer is below. Even if not, it's where I'd start:

Start by checking the hood sensor...it's on the fender well under the hood, it's just a plunger-type switch.

I've seen 2 of these on Nissan alarms that would set the alarm off when the wind blew...basically, the rubber stopped didn't push the sensor down far enough (one car was wrecked and out of alignment, then other just had an old, loose stopper).

SO...check the stopper that pushes that sensor down...tape a couple washers to it to see if that fixes you issue...if it does, then replace the stopper with a thicker one.

Hope that does it for you.
