What fluid do you use for your Kaaz lsd.
Im just tryin g to decide which one I want to use on my 2way.
I read that your are not supposed to use in organic gear oil for kaaz, but i was told that you can use te cusco synthetic. thanks.

uhhh just use the kaaz oil, a lot of people run torco brand oil also

Visit www.kaaz.com. They clearly state that synthetic is NOT RECOMMENDED for their differentials. The performance will be greatly diminished. The diff was designed for natural oil. If you don't want to use the kaaz brand oil, just use cheapo valvoline with ford friction modifier. That's what I'm using right now, and I think it works just fine. Plus, you can get all of that at autozone for about 10 bucks, instead of 50 for the kaaz stuff.

the manual & their website all say to never use synthetic oil, due to something with the additives coating the clutch plates. Use genuine Kaaz oil if at all possible. Or like the other guys said, for a much better price you can use Torco oil which has similar properties to the Kaaz oil:

I think what you're put there might be a little misleading, because Kaaz oil itself will not stop or prevent clunking.

The clunk noise is by design; when you take a slow speed turn the clutch plates create friction against each other and against the springs. Eventually it is enough friction to allow them to slip slightly, before the spring locks them again. If you aren't using any friction modifier in your diff oil, your clutch pack lsd is supposed to clunk like that. If it's not making the noise anymore, it's possible the plates have been coated with something that is reducing their friction against each other, meaning the diff isn't locking as strong or as soon as it did when new.

I've had my Kaaz a year now with 10k miles or so on it on genuine Kaaz fluid, it still clunks as loudly and as often as when it was brand new.... I use the genuine Kaaz oil without additives. There are some oil additives you can use to reduce the noise, but this works by reducing the friction between the plates, which sounds a little counter productive to me. Like running a 1" exhaust with cat, resonator and mufflers to reduce exhaust noise -- it'll work but at what expense?

I'm sure lots of dudes run the friction modifiers with no noticeable effect, anyone have input/opinions on the friction modifiers?

kaaz oil - it's a little pricey, but you don't change it that often - so I think it's worth it. No synthetic.

YOU MUST US KAAZ OIL...
it will void any chance of kaaz fixing it or refunding your $$ ...
When I read instructions...it scared me so many warnings and what not...

If you're anywhere near OC I suggest going to Kaaz USA and having them do the install and break-in. Took mine there last week and Ray was great, ready to give advice on anything you ask, and willing to show you the handfull of cars they have in their garage.

The install is pretty easy I did it by myself in my garage. Be careful lowering the pumpkin though, if it falls off the floor jack it could crush your hand or worse. If you buy from DriftFactory they'll get you a big can of oil, but like the other dude said you'll need another can for the post-break-in fluid change.

ive acyualy have been running penzoil 80w-90 non synthetic in mine for almost two years now and my diff locks hard and works fine

When did this turn into an install thread? I agree its worth the money to have Kaaz install it. But Robb already has his installed. I have used kaaz oil and had my diff for 2 years still works perfect, some cars are just noisier than others but the diff will always make noise. Just wait to change it till you have more money and can afford to change it. I went way too long a couple of times and the diff is fine. Your not at events twice a month so you can get by with going a little over your scheduled maintence. (so no one flames me I dont recommend people not changing their oil every 5,000miles but this is a different circumstance)

Vavoline 80w-90 with Ford frictin modifier all NON-synthetic. There was a representive from KAAZ on Drifting.com where he said you can use these instead of KAAZ fluid. Ive had my LSD since Dec. 05 and havent had a problem at all, just the clunk-clunk of it.
