I bought a 300 ZX fuel filter (about double the size of the orional 240 one) and was wondering if any of you guys could help me install this sucker.  I don't have a manual, so if someone could help me how to lower the fuel pressure and put the filter in place (I ask because it is too big for the stock bracket).  Also will I need a fuel filter brace from a 300 zx?<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>?<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>?  any help will be greatly appreciated.

Alright...I did this on my S14, and it should be the same on a S13.

Reading from the FSM:

1)  Remove fuse for fuel pump.  (on your kickpannel, on the inside it will tell you which one it is)

2)  Start Engine

3) After engine stalls, crank engine two or three times to make sure that fuel pressure is released.

4)  Turn ignition switch to OFF

5)  Loosen fuel hose clamps

6)  Replace fuel filter

7)  Install Fuse back into place.

Now when you put the 300zx in, it is best to take the bracket off first, and just stretch the arms, and it will hold the 300 filter.  Then bolt it back down, and press the filter into the clamp.

It's that simple.  Any more questions, feel free to ask.

Yeah.  240sx is exactly right.  He did forget to tell you to take off the fuel cap, to equalize the pressure... but anyway.  You really are gonna be upset with pulling off the rubber hoses connected to the filter.  Best suggestion is to lube it up, and dont pull from the hose below the connection, or you will tighten up the connected part.  Took me about 20 minutes to wrestle with the hoses, and about 3 minutes to swap and re-install.

if its an s13 it has a fuel relay in the engine bay

Yea dude you're totally right, I wonder why the Factory Service Manual didn't even say that.

hehe, i just got through with installing my walbro 255 pump yesterday, while its not the z32 pump, i took a lot of pictures, and i was so happy that i got my car working i did a writeup right after, hope this helps!

first..  Fuel pump, or Fuel filter..  please explain difference of the peice in question.  Also, what advantage would upgrading the fuel pump have for an N/A car??  is recommended after certain mods?  or would it be good for a completely stock 240?

240sx gave good directions... if u cant do it then dont touch your car anymore... it is easier than changing oil

Also note with the fuel filter that although there will be no pressure in the lines, there will be fuel in them and the fliter.  I lined the area with paper towels and had an aluminum can ready to catch the excess fuel and to drain the filter into.

As for the fuel pump, if yours functions properly and you are running stock, I can see no point to the 300zx upgrade.  Unless you plan to increase fuel pressure or use larger flow rate injectors, you might as well leave it as is and save the trouble, time, and money of swapping.

It's really motivating to see how easy you make it look
I want to run out and buy a fuel pump and put it in
my 240 today. hope you post some other installs
in the near future

thanks, i am still learning about working on cars myself, this was very new to me, and somehow i figured it out, its not really that hard,

i upgraded cause my original fuel pump died
