Power Steering Pump Leaking

Hey guys,

I just did the ole SR swap in my S13 and as stated in the title, my power steering pump is leaking like a sumbitch. Has this happened to anyone, that is, is this a common problem with SR pumps? I am trying to isolate where the leak is coming from, but it's tough, because it seems to be coming out from the bottom, not near where the lines come in on the top. Are these things rebuildable, or do I need to find another pump and swap it in?

Thanks for any help you guys can offer.

cheers,
C

fluids tend to track the path of gravity so maybe your leaking from the bottom of a line and it is trailing itself under the other parts where you cant see and then leaving from the bottom. please get all up in there and make sure it is not just a line that is leaking, or maybe it is a gasket. otherwise you have a cracked housing. pretty simple to diagnose. you might have to clean it up and get it dry then get her goin and track the new fluid trail.

Well, I've checked the lines going in, they're dry, it's only right at the pump where it gets really wet. Now, if it's a gasket, I assume I can just purchase new gaskets and tighten this thing up, is that right? Anyone know where I could score said gaskets? I'm going to get in there right now and see if I can pinpoint this leak for sure.

thanks,
C

im sure there is a place to get them, but it might be hard, you may have to make your own. that should be all it would take, unless of course there is damage inside, which is a 50/50 chance. could just be leaky gasket.
