idling lasts no more than 10 seconds and dies. What is going on?

I have an idling issue. The idling of the engine, KA24DE, doesn't last more than 10 seconds. It is idling at 600 rpm with some sputtering and slowly dies after about 5 to 10 seconds.
Engine idling is not stable, traveling about 200 - 400 rpms up and down.
When I press or take my foot off gas pedal, engine takes more than 1 second to respond.
What could be causing this?

I just disconnected MAF sensor and ran the engine.
It didn't die. Idling was still at between 400rpm ~ 600rpm and rpm is not increasing when I press gas pedal.

Does this mean MAF is malfunctioning or is wrong MAF?

Tell us your setup, Is everything stock? You can test your mafs with a multimeter, it could be your IACV should clean it with some seafoam spraying down the black hose that connects to your intake tube next to the throttle body. Yea and check your vacuum lines for a leak.

My set up is,:
Chassis: 89 s13
Engine: KA24DE, year unknown. Doesn't have butterfly valve inside intake manifold.

Everything is stock.
Disabled EGR but EGR temp sensor is not fitted onto the engine yet.
Disabled FAIRC.

s13s use an extra wire to the ecm during "start" on the ignition switch. i wired in a remote start only to the "run" and "start" only and not the second ecm start power and it would do the same thing with my SR. so i guess it could maybe possibly be the ignition switch or fuse in that circuit if nothing else fixes it. just a thought

I had this problem when I didn't connect dash harness with the engine harness.

I sprayed carb cleaner into IACV and idling became much stronger but still idles at 600 rpm. I tried turning idle adjust screw but nothing changes. Still responds to throttle very slow, about 1 to 2 sec behind to gas pedal pressure.

My valve cover vacuum hose or IAVC hose are tight. This is really throwing me off.

i had a idling problem before but its not exactly the same. my rpm right now is still in 600 once in a while. do this

clean your sparkplug
check your fuel filter
check your air filter
make sure you have clean fuel
check for vacuum leak >>>> start your car then spray some carb cleaner all around with your engine to see if u have a vacuum leak. if your engine responded where u sprayed it then might have a leak somewhere u sprayed it last.

thats all i got in my head right now....hope it helps

I seem to be having a similar issue, mine will start, but it will immediately stall and die. Redoing the vacuum lines in a few to see if that was the issue. If thats not it, then we will also check the maf and clean it. The air filter is fine, the fuel filter is fine, the plugs are fine, so I'm going to assume its the vac. lines.

Will update later today if I figure out whats going on.
