since it was first event, there were a LOT of people out there, hopefully the run groups will be smaller next time in the morning it wasnt too bad since they ran two cars on each side at a time but in the afternoon when it was timed, it was only one car allowed on each side at a time, and you had to wait to run when the car was finished

Does anyone have any more pictures?
Did anyone else on here win anything? Quote:
$120 for the event 12 runs total= $10 bucks a run Each run ~ 1 minute It was pretty fun, but it almost didn't seem worth it to me. This might be good if you are trying to win. The winner of each class got $100 bucks cash and some other pretty good stuff. If you are just looking to have some fun, i might suggest another event or just come and do the fun runs at lunch. But you will only get 2 runs. |

Wow... VK56DE in a 350Z... I just found a couple pics...
![]() ![]() Do you need a lot of power to compete in Gymkhana?... I've seen videos where the cars are constantly power oversteering to get where they need to?... Or if you don't have power, you can just go narrower on tires? |

i think its alot of driver skill involved, suspension setup as well. i went to aerodyne's gymkhana event last month i didn't make it out to el toro but either way gymkhana events are great. oh and aerodynes event was like 20 cars or less and was 70 bucks and u got alot of track time.you dont need big power but torque does help. at least thats what i think but what do i know, i didn't even make top 8.....

I don't think power is as important with gymkhana.
Main thing is RWD and some sort of locking diff.

Most def. It sucked in the Hondah Fit. It was driveable but super slow. Drove it in my friends 350whp s13 but I was so frustrated from driving the open diff fwd that when I drove his car I was just drifting and didnt really care about the time. I dont think I would go to another one, probably the least amount of fun I had at the track maybe ever. I am not trying to be negative or rip this event they worked hard and organization was fine. Just not my cup of Tea. |

Haha yeah it was funny when Taka said that if you don't have a LSD to take the dual donut section like you are driving through a parking lot.
So true tho. I hear you Brainfood, the event was put on very well and a great turnout, but it might not appeal to every type of driver. I think it is a better alternative than going to a normal autox though, where they kick you out for getting a little "squirrely."

I think its a good event for ruff practice and just no giving a sht. And its what you make of it, I saw a lot of people just running it Grip styel and trying to track back improvement in time, a lot of the unlimited guys. all in all I was disapointed I couldnt bring my personal car out for some time attacks of my own but glad to see my friend get some seat time and learning in with the new two-way. The two small tight closer in twisty figure 8 style spagetti looking turn portions of the course were basically just 'manji' (using dousans's tech terms haha). and bs'ing. Forsberg got really awesome sweeping drifts in between these points, but he had plent of cambe up front and insane gobs of torque down low with the vk56de motor.

just for people that dont know:
GYMKHANA is primarily done on an open paved field or parking lot. The course is laid out with cones in key points to navigate to. The obstacle will often consist of slaloms, 180 degree turns, 360 degree turns, figure 8s, and some time parking boxes. The drivers goals is the get through the course and fast a possible with the least amount of mistakes. Gymkhana requires strong mental concentration and memorizing of the track, where you have to go and do next. The driver will use many techniques to effectively go through a course. Acceleration, braking, drifting & grip driving are all necessary for Gymkhana. Widely popular internationally, in Europe, Malaysia, Australia, and Japan. |
