sr/ca/rb into a nissan pickup

well, finally i have an excuse to swap the engine out of my pickup.well not really.i got a 93 nissan pickup 2wd with 300k on it,nothings failed, nothing. After all these years, ive decided to get rid of the stinky old KA and put in another reasonable engine. Was thinking about the ca as i hear they are a drop in with 240sx.Anyone help me decide?i plan on doing the swap myself and reliability does matter.it will also probably run on e85 as i am going bankrupt by gas prices.also wondering what would be needed to drop the engines listed in the title in.Also, since i know you guys where wondering, the truck is a daily driver(driven 60 miles a day) and i do feel bad taking the KA out but oh well.

PLEASE HELP ME

Swap a dual cam in there and turbo it.

That's the way.

Sr's have been done before.

What you really should do is put a 13bt in there.

the ca and sr are obviously the easiest to swap in.. they both should just go right in with their corresponding mounts (ca for ca and sr for sr) and the wiring for both is exactly the same

If an SR pickup is awsome then an RB pickup would super awsome! Also, I question the reliability of a rotory being used as a daily driver. But don't mistake me. I am by no means an expert on the subject of rotarys, I wouldn't even consider myself knowledgeable. I have also heard that you need to run higher octane fuel in rotarys, but this is only information I've read about. Good luck with whatever you decide to swap in.

id say go with the rb. the rb25 would be sick, but the rb20 would be great too. If you are really worried about the local laws go with the vq30dett

the sr and rb 20 would be the easiest
the rb25 a bit more complicated
the vq......not a bolt in

rotary because it is going to run on e85,and rotarys need high octane gas and there are alot of em around here so i can get some people to teach me about it,plus i think it would be cool to have a 1.3l ticking time bomb in a pickup, but a 2.5l would also be nice=)

N/a rotarys use the 87. Stock turbos use 89. Rotarys are plenty reliable. They just don't react well to poor maintence because engine oil in injected into the combustion chamber to lube the apex seals And old oil carbons things up. If you go rotary remove the omp and run premix 1 oz 2 stroke oil to 1 gal gas. then you can run synthetic in the engine and it will last as long as your truck.

neither the sr or ca are going to be a direct swap. there is a difference between the KA block in the truck and the one in the 240sx. as far as i knew, the engine mounts were in a different location.

also rotarys like lower octane gas. i know its kinda counter intuitive. but with my rx7, it ran best on 87. i would put 100 in and it probably still ran best on 87.

lol yes the motor mounts line up in different places, as does the tranny/shifter location. easiest thing would be to get a good welding buddy to make you the motor mount brackets to bolt up to the sr so it'll sit the motor where you want it. if you DO use the trucks motor mounts mounted to the sr mount brackets lol, get really mad at your trucks fire wall because you need to bash that shit back about 4 inches, and you're STILL gonna have a bitch of a time with the heater hoses. lol you think replacing the gasket inbetween the exhaust manifold and the turbo is a pain in the ass when an sr's in an s13 muwhahhhaha wait till u have to do it on your truck. ca is a little smaller motor, and i'd say it'd be the easier of the two.

no idea how the hell that guy got that rb26 in that truck up there, but you see the tube chassis, etc....aka that dude put a shit ton of money in that truck, easily thrice the limit you have in your mind of what you want to spend on yours.....

i did the wiring on the 92 nissan pickup for the sr that's at the shop that's why i know some of those issues first hand. as far as the wiring goes lol muahahhaha i'll do your wiring but it won't be cheap. @@

u want a fast truck for cheap....ka-t what you got. you want a fast truck...get an SRT-10 =]
G/L mang @@

Yes. Someone who knows what they are talking about.

The reason you hear so many people hating rotaries is because people toss random mods onto their car without knowing how their cars work. Something as simple as a full exhaust on a F-chassis can do damage to your motor if you aren't careful.

rotaries like 87 if they are naturally aspirated. No turbo cars like low octane.

on a TurboII if you add exhaust you have add injectors too, the extra boost provided by the free flowing exhaust will cause it to max out the stockers

VH45De

Has anyone on here ever attempted to swap a VH45De into thier hardbody pickup? I have a 97 Hardbody and am looking to get more power and have that nice V8 sound. Mazworks carries most of the parts to install the VH45DE motor into an S chassis car. I'm sure most of the parts like the motor mounts and headers could be used.

Thanks,
Dan
