Honestly, it's because they are retarded. I think that's the technical reason.
They need to take a page out of GM's Saturn book and figure that shit out. American's don't like Ford's American design's. They are completely uninspired.

A main reason is how much they will cost to sell over here. Think the EP3 Civic SI. Beside that they screwed us over on the HP because they had the RSX Type S already it was made in England so when it made its way over here it cost to much damn money to sell over here so they did crapily. We dont ship American Fords over there for the most part either. Hell, most Japanese and come German cars are made HERE now.

falcon ftw, it competes with the monaro ( gto ) there so why not bring it here too
ford is depending on the mustang to be the only sports car.

Ford Mondeo, rofl Mischief Invasion. Not even VW can get away with that, they have gone downhill so much. All the technical problems and poor poor sales in the recent years.
I will say, the Falcon is a pretty awesome car. I think it'd sell really well in America. Better than the Mustang, at least.

Ford cannot compete with itself by selling a rwd sport coupe. It would be counterproductive to the Mustang. Just like the Camaro/TransAM, one of am had to die. GTO allowed there to be a coupe and a Sports car (Corvette) while the Cadillac was the big daddy.
Kinda like how Infiniti can sell the G35 coupe and the 350z sedan even though the G35 has a joke of a backseat. Competing with yourself is bad news

I dont think its a matter of competing with itself...its only a matter of time before fords product lines die out or the company dies out all together. Ford and GM's profits have been in the negatives because ppl just arent interested in their cars. They need a major overhaul soon...unfortunately they keep releasing the same boring cars and cant compete with japanese labor and production costs and methods even by outsourcing work to other countries...The marginal cost (or the cost of to produce each additional vehicle) would have to be high and there production costs would have to be way low to boost their marginal revenue and make it worth it....Im willing to bet that we will see some of fords euro line or at least smaller compacts coming this way in the near future if gas continues to rise but they are gonna have to come up with something to pull people into buying compact fords instead of hondas or toyotas which means exciting designs etc and that whole buy american thing just aint workin
dont forget americans like boring cars...there are plenty of makes and models that we dont get because there just isnt a market for them, americans like basic practical cars... |
