Need help identify this part?
Im in the middle of swapping my s14 sr into my s13. Sorry I don't have pics at the moment so I will try my best to explain this.
Theres this silver colour metal "module or something" on my driver side strut tower. Im just wondering if anyone knows what it is or if I need it. I have a '89 s13 which had the ka in it. Thanks. |

no it doesn't have any writing on it and my car is manual transmission. The 'thing' is mounted to the strut tower bar with a big black bracket on it with two 1/2" hoses coming off of it. Its already off of my car. It was getting in the way when I put the sr in. I dont want to use it if I don't have too.

Thanks. that helped. I have another couple parts I'm not sure of. There are 2 stock black cylinder shaped things in the engine bay. 1 is a little larger than the other. I checked one of them and it had like dirt in it.
I don't have a clue what it is or if I need it. I looked on a diagram and I think its an "activated carbon canister". looks like it. I attached an image of it.. not sure if it will show. Thanks Last edited by 2plus4plus0eq6; 12-22-2009 at 10:31 PM.. |

Get rid of all that crap. Only thing you need for vacuum line will be to your wastegate, fpr and bov for a basic swap. T off your boost gauge or what ever else you have on those lines.

![]() Thanks. That makes sense. I got my camera now so I have taken a few pictures of some lines that I am not sure where they connect too. Any Ideas?
This hose comes off the back of the intake manifold ![]() This line comes off the master cylinder ![]() This hard line comes from beneath the car somewhere ![]() |

Sorry I think I made a mistake in the second picture. I believe thats the brake booster that the hose is coming off of. I got a response from another thread saying to connect that to the back of the intake manifold. Just need a second opinion on this.
and I was told that the bottom picture is a hard line that went to the activated carbon canister which I believe is connected to the fuel tank. I think I can just cap that one off. Thanks for the help |

no dont cap that one off
thats a vent for your fuel tank. it lets air in so the fuel can come out get a mini filter or just let it chill there.

ahh good point. makes sense because of suction. Well.. I guess it was previously connected to the canister which was then connected to vacuum?
So does it make sense to connect that hard line to the intake manifold or my other vacuum lines? Thanks |

ehh i guess you could, but i dont think it would matter because as the fuel pump sucks fuel out and the fuel level drops, it can suck in air by itself via that hardline
could be wrong

just cap it with a mini filter. its the breather line for the evap system. used to conect to the charcol canister, its not needed unless you live in a state that you have to pass emisions tests. DO NOT hook it to any vacume line. it was controlled previously by a vacume activated solenoid and not drawn from all the time. repeat, DO NOT hook to any vacume line
