i have a 223,000K mile 1990 240sx. I want to turbo it...what are my options sticking strictly with the KA motor. I dont want to go with the sr20. I know the Nsport turbo kits only come for the 91 and up models so if i get one what will have to be modified for it to work? Also, if i keep the motor i have now its most definately going to need new pistons and rods...what kind do you suggest? I just bought a 95 motor and the guys installling it just told me that they need a ton of new stuff to finish the job and i just dont have the time to let the car sit in the garage for a month while i have no car...hence the "what are my options" question.

so are you talking about the 1995 KA24DE that you want to turbo, or are you talking about the 1990 KA24E that you want to turbocharge? I'm confused.
You want to turbocharge your KA24E because you can't wait for them to put the KA24DE (from the '95) in?

Really, Im pretty confused as well. I think though wut jarnld is saying is that you want to Turbocharge the 95' KA right? Also, he is telling us that Nsport makes a turbo kit for 91+ 240's right? O wait...or r u asking about 91 KA-T? Well repost and see what happens.

im asking what you guys would do in my situation...I have a 1990 with 230+K miles on it. I want to turbo an engine but not go sr20. WOuld you A) rebuild the 1990 KA and then turbo B) swap in a 1991 KA and then turbo or C)buy a new car to turbo.
If you answered A or B then I have some questions... If A, then, what would i have to modify if i got the NSport kit so that it would fit my 1990 SOHC engine. If B, then, what import car would you get. I want it to be inexpensive, but that really only leaves honda/acura. I was really looking for rear wheel drive and nothing outstanding...possibly 350 HP and a low 13sec high 12 second 1/4 mile. This is possible with honda/acura....however, i just cringe when even thinking about giving in and getting like a civic Si or integra GS-R. Hope that clears this up. thanks guys.

if you must keep the KA, fine. drive yours the way it is until you can afford to do a minor rebuild on another KA. Get a DOHC. Then drop that in and turbo it. Easy. Good power too. And you don't need to go all the way with the rebuild. Maybe some nice pistons, but that's about it. And all new seals and stuff. Clean up the head. Cams?
