Where's the oil drain plug on the S14? I know its a stupid question...but well..i'm dumb =)

Anyway, on our Maxima its accessible without jacking the car. All I have to do is the turn the wheel to the side and its in the passenger side wheel well. Is it the same procedure for the 240SX as well?

Thanks.

the oil drain plug is on the passanger side of the oil pan, you have to go under the car to get to it.... you cant miss it.

There is a plastic cover, under the car from the front bumper to about the back of the front wheels. There is a big square hole cut out of it towards the back, the oil pan sits about an inch up into that hole. The plug is on the passanger side at a slight angle. If your small you can slide under there and drain your oil w/out jacking up the car. I can do it (at stock height) with a frontlip even...good to be small sometimes.

If you have one, (ive heard manuals dont) it will be right between the firewall and the engine on the passenger side, closer to the intake manifold. Its a little hidden, but if you have it youll see a ring (like oil). I believe you check it with the car in neutral and running.
good luck

I'm pretty sure you're supposed to check your oil after the engine has been off a while. Not cold but not hot either. The sooner after you shut it off the more you have to compensate for oil that is still up in the galleries or that hasn't dripped back down to the pan. Checking it while running seems like a pointless and innaccurate exercise.

As for the idea that manual cars don't come with a dipstick, is that all 240's or just S14's, because my S13 has one? Maybe it's just your car that doesn't have one and the previous owner was lying to you. AFAIK all 240's should have a dipstick, or put another way, that's the first time I have heard that they might not.

To check tranny oil (on manual tranny) you have to go underneat the car.

It's on the driver side of the tranny, there is a drain plug, remove it using a 1/2" ratchet , you are suppose to fill the tranny by there until it overflow....

Be aware that this drain plug will be very hard to untigh...because it's a steel plug in a aluminium casing...so with the corrosion it's get really hard to remove!

S14Drift- Sorry, I missed that we were now talking about trans fluid levels (for some reason I never call it oil) and not motor oil. You are correct, there is no trans fluid dipstick other than your finger. It is actually over full by the time it starts coming out. I made that mistake too since my friend only pointed that out after I was done. No harm, it just means you'll have a small puddle under your car for a few days as the excess fluid escapes through the bleeder vent at the top.
