Leaky Injector

I just bought a '93 Polaris Blue Fastback from the original owner, and I am LOVING it. The car came with a JWT pop charger and ECU, and it actually rips quite nicely.
However, I've noticed that the clutch slips once in a while. Usually jsut out of the blue, too. even in 5th gear, I can pin it at about 3K RPM, and it'll slip like mad. Are there any adjustments I can make to the clutch that might cure the problem, or is it worn out? I'd really like to put a slightly more grabby than stock clutch in, so if its worn out, thats what i'll do. Can you guys recommend any good aftermarket clutches, (not too grabby, but more than stock)? I'd like it to last a decent amount of time as well. Thanks |

Do 240s use hydraulicallyy actuated clutches or cable? If they use cable you can temporarily fix the slipping(while your trying to replace it) by loosening the cable. Though if it's a hydraulic, your gonna have to slip till you replace it.

240's have hydraulic clutch systems. Adjustment can be made under the dash, at the top of the pedal. there is a short adjusting rod with a jam nut. Loosen the jam nut and make your adjustment. The pedal play at the top of pedal should be minimal, I think the FSM call for a couple of mm.
BUT, if your car is slipping in 5th gear, the clutch is probably shot. Hydraulic clutches generally do not require adjustment. You can try it, it will probably need adjusting once you replace the clutch.

Anybody else have any recomendations? I was going to post the exact same question, although I know my clutch is just starting to wear out when I got new tires that are pretty sticky and now instead of the tires spinning........the clutch does <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hmmm.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hmmm:'> . It's not really bad now, but the way I drive, it won't take long.

I like the clutch to be down towards the floor more than towards the top of the pedal. Is there a problem with this? I think it's easier for quick launches with out wheel spin because the clutch engages faster. -dave-
