Does anyone know if it is legal to put japanese license plates on your car? Like would it be possible to get one registered? It still has numbers on it so I don't see why not. Thanks.

I am taking a japanese course in highschool (2nd year) so I can read some of the japanese characters, but they use arabic numerals (you know the ones on your keyboard) so you should be able to read those unless you failed the 1-10 test. In any case I was just wondering and I thought it would be cool to have japanese license plates on my car... its my oppinion so don't worry about it and if you don't like my oppinion then don't say anything. Its not your problem. Thanks though.

I've got one on the front of my car because only a rear plate is required in my state, that's totally legal. But if you use them to replace your real plates, then your looking for trouble. And no they won't register them, sorry.
~And to the guy that said not to put on a Japanese plate on your car because this is America...well then you better go trade in your car for a Chevy or something more patriotic than a nissan...

uh... if you like it so much why don't you move to japan instead ? i think you can also customise your own plate as well.. as of why you can't use it in the US, that's because here is US not japan simple as that.

Are you serious with your question? Honestly. You are so clueless you could drench yourself in clue glue, run naked through a field of clues, and still not catch one.

No, if he ran backwards, he might catch a clue or 2, because he would not be controlling where he goes. As long as he is facing the right direction, and able to direct where he runs, he is going to be without any elusive clues.

Seriously dood, I needed that. You kick ass

State plates are non negotiable, non adjustable, non japanesable. Some states will allow a custom front plate, but the rear must be a registered state plate.

hang the plate on your wall...

-side note-
when i was in highschool i thought everything japanese was cool... with wisdom i realized most japanese things are illogical... they stick to old ways just to be traditional...
I prefer USA, where you can be yourself and not conform, in japan you're ostrisized for being different.

If you hang a J-plate, is it from a former car you drove? If not, it's cosmetic and borderline 'rice'. There are a few of us here in the states now that do and will hang theirs. I just got back and it's something that I plan to mount on my car once I finish my conversion... Try not to be like the Honda and 'rice out'... (any more flamers out there??)

The worst are the fake Japanese plates you can buy... They don't look real in the slightest! They don't even use the correct green paint for the digits, always black.

A legit Japanese plate is a nice collectible, something to throw on your car if you take it to car shows, not something to run on the street in the US, bottom line.

It's nothing new or "rice" to want them, either... The German car fans I know have been running plates from der Vaterland for years as a show thing. It's a wink and a nod to your car's heritage.
