s14 Oil Leakdown?

Hey Guys,

During my brake install I had to let my car sit 3 days while waiting for a bolt, when I went to start it after I got spark but it wouldn't fire.. My friend who knows more about engines then I do said it was probably because it sat and the oil potentially leaked down from the cylinders?

Long story short he pinched the fuel line and had me try and start it, after a few minutes on and off it worked and started up with a puff of smoke.

He couldn't properly explain the implications of this, is this a symptom of a larger problem or should I relax.

Thanks

Hmm. not real sure what they were trying to tell you there. When an engine sits un-run for several days, any oil in the engine will run down to the lowest point, but it wouldnt have anything to do with it not starting (unless the engine were seized up, which obviously isnt the case) Maybe he was trying to say that your fuel pump lost its prime. which means the gas may have run backwards through the fuel line and back into your tank. This would cause you to have to "prime" it, or get fuel back up to the engine. Thats probably what he meant. Usually its not a problem, but it could also mean you have a pinhole in a fuel line somewhere.. I wouldnt worry about it immediately.
