Get a "wideband" oil pressure gauge that displays 0-100 PSI or so.

dont know if its normal or not, but best thing to do is have an oil pressure gauge.

Yes, my car does that from time to time. Just as long as it doesn't stay on or flash when you're driving, you're fine.

Bad advice. The stock light comes on ONLY for very very low oil temp. By the time you see the light, it's probably curtains for your engine.

You need a good oil pressure gauge. You may as well disconnect the stock oil light.

FIX:
Step 1. Unplug your sender wire, its next the the oil filter.
Now it will never flash at you again.

Now seriously... When you turn the key to the ON position (not START) the light should be on. When you START the car it might stay on for a sec or 2 but then turn off. If it comes on while the car is running... that is very bad.

probably because when you turn on the ignition (engine not running) there's no oil pressure (due to engine not running).

then once u crank it and it fires up, the oil pressure builds and light goes off

edit: xsparc beat me

You probably need to do routine maintenance.... when was your last oil change? and when was the last time you replace the oil pressure sensor, sparkplugs, filters blah, blah...? After new filter and oil (correct weight). Report back If the problem still persist.

It happened to me a while back... Turns out I was low on oil and my oil filter wasn't on very tight. (I hand un-tightened it >:|)

The oil level is full, I haven't checked the filter lately however. I'll have to call a friend to get the oil pressure checked. Could someone explain how the pressure is checked? (plug this in to that while this etc.)

with a gauge. plugged into the sensor hole right next to the oil filter. if you're getting an aftermaret gauge and sender i see no reason to keep the stock sensor (which only warns you when oil pressure becomes dangerously low)

LC section of the FSM. Remove the stock oil pressure switch and screw in an oil pressure gauge. Measure in neutral at idle and 3000 RPM.
