wierd idle problem.. please help

hey guys, i have a 91 s13 with a stock ka24de and its got a really wired problem. the car wont idle at all.. itll just stall out and die. i have to keep hitting the gas to keep it running and even then its really sluggish. the thing is, if i unplag the MAF it will idle just fine on its own (although it is very rough). it is rev limited to 2.5k though without the MAF.. whats the deal? if the MAF is plugged in it will drive just fine it just wont idle

can anybody help me out?

First, Check for Vaccume leaks. Make sure all the plugs are in good shape and the plugs are gapped correctly.

the rough but stable idle and 2.5k rev limiter is because of the ecu. it isnt recieving a signal from the maf and goes into limp home mode or safe mode as some call it. that way, should your maf or some other sensor die when you are away from home, it will allow you to still drive the car home. as for the idle issue, sounds to me like your maf is dead. hope it helps.
