KA engine questions
I am thinking I will be staying with the KA for all my turbo needs. However I was reviewing afterdarktuning.com and found some more information. There currently isn't an email to contact them, so I thought someone here may have some information.
They offer a built 200hp KA. 1. How much boost would that engine be able to handle, if turboed? 2. Would you need to do an ECU upgrade to run the engine properly, or would just an aftermarket engine management system handle that power properly. HMMMMMM They are also offering a Built for Turbo KA. 1. What kind of base horse will that engine put out preturbo? 2. What kind of boost can it handle and what kind of HP output? 3. Again with the ECU question. Any help would be appreciated.

The 200hp KA will probably not handle boost well at all. It will have high compression pistons and an advanced timing.
The other motor, there are a lot of aspects to how much boost it will handle. The quality of the parts, the build, ect. If you post specs... people will probably be more apt to help you. For the ECU... I would suggest it. -Jeff

unless its a drag car, high compression motor and turbo do not mix. too much heat and detonation will be unstoppable.
the turbo motor is more flexible for more HP. MORE BOOST!!! the ecu is good but u also need to include the fuel it needs for the added pressure. do a couple of searches on turbo ka and fuel management. you will be surpised on how many threads there are dealing with this topic. just keep in mind that a NA KA has a limit to the HP output. "There is no replacement for displacement, EXCEPET A BIGGER TURBO!"
