Which tires?
Ok, so im setting up my wheel/tire combo for next year, well, and this winter.
im running GoZigen ZR+520s 17x9 and id like to run a 245/45 on the wheel. spare me the ugly tire bullshit, im actully trying to grip this car, and make decent times so the choices are DZ101 direzza Federal RS595 or in an 18x9.5 255/40 or 45 RS595s pretty much Im open to any suggestions int he 150.00 a tire pricerange, and provide me a link to purchase. Im looking to buy NOWWWWWW as i decided against blingy ass wheels, and just decided to grab up a set of light wheels nad good tires. anyone?

the Z1s are only 30.00 total with shiping from tire rack more than the RS595 from city tire.
im either gonna go Z1 or Re01r i think ...gotta do more research. first time in a few years im buying new track tires and hte Re01Rs are the same price, but city tire wants to charge 35.00 a tire, where tire rack is 71.00 a set of four PRIORITY... and they are a state further from city tire..

Direzza star specs FTMFW. They are priced about like rt-615's, but grip like neovas. They have been tearing up the auto-x lateloy, which is doninated by neovas.
EDIT: Tirerack has the 245/45/17's for $139/tire that's the win right there. I may go with a set of the 255/40/17's for my next set. |

yeah the price is VERY attractive
Everyone over here runs Neovas for time attack and and re01rs on teh front of drift cars. but neovas ar elike 280 a tire here.

Neovas are stupid overpriced. You can get hoosier r-compounds for less. Best motoring did a comparison between the neovas, re01r's, star specs, and something else and the star specs set the fastest time.

Hey Grant,
I'd most likely suggest running the 17's if you are looking to run something aroung the 25.7 Overall diameter. There really aren't too many great options in the 255/40R18 other than the Advan Neova. You might want to consider running something in a 25.0 OD. That way you can run the 255/40R17 or even the 255/35R18, which will give you a lot more tire options. The Dunlop Star Spec Z1 is an absolute great buy for the price. I wouldn't go as bold as saying its a better tire than the Neova. Most of the track reviews and times show that the Neova outperform the Z1. Really tho, the only downside to the Z1 will be the wet traction performance. The Federal 595RS-R is also a great buy. The problem is... they've been such hot tires for us to sell that its been virtually out of stock most of the time. If you want to save some valuable cash, a good idea for beginner/novice drivers or cars that people are just trying to dial in... is to get a good tire, not a great one. Save some money, and get the car dialed in. It doesn't make much sense to spend $300 a tire to get 0.01 seconds off your time. If you are just trying to setup your car, I think you are on the right track to try not to spend too much on the tires. Hope this helps ![]() |

Awesme post!!!!!!
Yes, these are going on the leggy for the person that was asking I wanted to with a 255 but I haven't really found anywhere than can confirm it would he a good fit on a 9j wheel. These tires aren't so much to dial in the car. I'm no noob to grip, it's just that the last time I was doing autocross, azenia were the shit so it's been a while. These tires need to be able to make this stripped and caged(by time it's on the track) stick on nikko, mobara, ebisu, Fuji and maybe motegi I'm goiNg to he hitting tracks hot and hard this season Quote:

My car, 255/40/17's on 17x9 +12 gram lights.
![]() ![]() Perfectly square, no bulge. Fitment has been confirmed. Actually if you read the manufacturer's reccomended rim widths a 9" wheel is exactly what is reccomended for a 255 tire. |

R1R is a great road course tire, but due to the light weight construction, the sidewalls are very soft. On smaller courses (autocross) where you have to switch back often, the sidewalls tend to settle back very slow. But if you are using it in a road course setting where you can ease in turns, the grip level is amazing! |
