wow, that's a broad question :P
Try to narrow it down, you'll get better information. That said, I love my Infiniti Kappas.

I'm not sure what to ask.....I'm completely new to the audio world and I would like to put some either 4x6" or the 6 1/2" speakers in that people talk about. I looked through old post and found a couple things, but what brand for those speakers and brand for 10".... cause I read that they are good for a mid range not to much bass and I dont want that . thanx...

I use CDT; excellent.
Still, this is more of a "Car audio Site" question, you'll have much more luck at: www.sounddomain.com -or- www.termpro.com |

anyway as for sound quality, i love pioneer, but any GOOD company can provide good sound quality, as long as u provide the proper filtering and power. |

Do yourself a favour: Go to a store that sells the brands you are interested in, listen to all of them w/ YOUR music. Go from there... Last edited by mrdirty; 02-17-2003 at 05:25 AM.. |

oh yeah, very good point. Crappy speakers properly amplified can sound better than awesome speakers without enough juice.
My 6.5" Kappas sound OK from the deck, but I definitely would need an amp to make them sound their best.

I have JL audio speakers all around (components in front, coaxials in back), a 10w3 in the trunk, powered by an infinity 5-channel. I really like the setup but it was pieced together. If you just want coaxial 4x6's or 6.5" I have some sonys and eclipses that I had before I got my components that I would give you a good deal on. I also have a JL 10w0 (125 watts) that hits very clean. Anyways, I would recommend JL anyday. Boston Acoustics has good component systems if you get the higher end ones, but the dropoff in quality for getting the lower end components is very noticable. Ive also heard a lot of good things about CDT. I have a friend that runs CDT all around.

I'm very pleased with Infinity. The sound is very clear, however the bass could be a bit better. But that's why you get an amp and kappa sub

so it seems for what I want Infinity Kappa's sound good, cause I want the quality sound not so much the bass. I want to keep my car in one piece as long as possible. One guy said Driver's are first then amps ... What are drivers in audio sense ?

Drivers are speakers. What kind of sound you want depends wholly on how much money you want to spend. Set an amount you want to spend, and get what you can with that, be it just speakers, then an amp/sub, etc.

I'll say it again:
if u buy drivers w/out listening to them you're asking for trouble. Every set is going to sound different, some ppl like bright highs and go w/ titanium tweets; others prefer mellow highs and go w/ silk. If u just want a name then: -JL -MB Quart (I think over-rated) -CDT is my favorite, pricey though. (smooth, great cross-overs) -Focal (bright, second to CDT IMHO) You have to look at the whole picture though and try to plan it out, take a few rides in your friends cars and get a feel for what you like. Figure out how much you want to spend (like burn said) and go from there. Drivers, amps, and the head unit are the key components. Spread your money around so that you have similar quality among these three; there's no point in having $400 drivers when the signal is $hit. Oh, and components are the way to go in the long run. If u don't want to spend too much: I would buy a decent head unit like a clarion, replace the door drivers w/ maybe a set of Ultimates (cheap but decent.) I'm serious though, LISTEN FIRST; or you'll regret it. My setup for reference: -CDT 3 way component drivers -Clarion DXZ715 head unit -Rockford fosgate 800a4 bridged to subs -US Acoustics USX2100 to components (very under-rated) -2 8000 series MTX subs. -Rockford Fosgate 1 farad capacitor Last edited by mrdirty; 02-19-2003 at 08:30 AM.. |
