![]() Anyone know if it's possible and if so what are the results of...
I have had a H4 conversion on my 89 F/B w/pop up lights and want to switch to H.I.D.'s. The housing has a little dome in it (i guess to reflect more light?) and the rest of the housing is shiny w/completely clear glass. If I were to do a H.I.D. conversion would there be any problems with heat? or scattering of light? If anyone knows please post. thanks a bunch. -Eddy

The H4 Conversions and actuall HID systems suck. Light is blinding to other drivers, and yes the light scatters quite a bit and dosent light up what it should. I forget who did this but it was a recent post about it.
Not sure if the Silvia non projector light might work the best if you want to switch headlights, or you might just want to consider consulting with clearcorners.com or get an aftermarket set of light such as east bears and then do a HID conversion. To much $ if you ask me. If I were you I would just get 80w bulbs and wire it so it will put out the extra wattage. |

back up back up back up!
A proper, high quality H4 conversion is a good thing and, properly aimed, will be even less blinding to oncoming traffic than stock. This means a name brand housing (Hella, Sylvania, Osram, Cibie) and a non-tinted ("yellow") bulb. It sounds like he has one of the knockoff brand "diamond clear" H4 housings though... bad light out of those. An "HID conversion" will only make it brighter.. and it'll have an even worse nasty beam pattern. You just can't properly convert a headlamp designed for a light bulb into one that'll work with an HID tube. Though with projector headlamps it's usually "acceptable". My advice is to junk the cheap clear H4s and get quality H4s.. go with the "white" bulbs if you want the tiiiite HID look, go with the untinted "yellow" bulbs if you want to see better at night. It'll cost you less than even a basic "HID conversion" and function properly. It won't look cool from the outside but that's why we have popups. Keep 'em folded down! |

In indy I am sure you heard of Santeca, they have some HID kit that they installed in thier S13 (with silvia front), I beleive they install it on any car too, I think its like 800 or something. I think I would agree with West and Dousan, if you really want to do it, go with Mike @ Clear Corners kit. Or try and create your own. Get the Pivot switch, and some HID Fogs from Catz or Raybrig or something.

Seems like we all think alike...
![]() i was getting tired of the h4 conversion, though is not a cheap one, and it works well. but i wanted something dfferent and brighter. what I really wanted was this cool lazy eye "all round" dual lights thingy and convert that to h.i.d. but autoimaging doesnt seem to have them anymore. ![]() ![]() but I really appreciate all the feedback. thanks people. -Eddy BTW: if anyone happens to know where i may still be able to find the "all round" light kits...LEMME KNOW!!! ![]()
