![]() Hey guys I got a sr with a gt2871r w/ 64 trim with all supporting mods and jwt j3 cams. I dynoed at 356hp and I need a little more power to beat a friend. I got the intake and exaust done so all I have left to do is build the engine but I dont really want to yet. I was thinking of doing a water methanol injection but I dont know much about it. I know it will cool the combustion chamber which means I can up the boost but I dont know how to tune for it and what my air/fuel ratios to be safe would be. I guess what I am asking is how much power could I get out of it and how would I tune for it since I have a afc neo and a wideband o2 sensor? Can anyone help me out?

its not just about power. you also have to do something with your suspension, trans, rear, and tires. get your power to the ground first.

I forgot to mention that I have a JWT tuned ecu that was close to perfect and the afc neo is just to adjust it a little. I have 275 azenis on back with a non turbo z32 rear end. I plant for the most part but I really just wanted the power for freeway runs. I turn the boost down everywhere else. I dont normally run from a dig on the streets because I just don’t feel safe and I plan on getting drag radials for the track. I am building the car for the track so the coilovers are hurting my traction but I don’t mind. I basically have the same setup as codyace on that website (its where i got the idea) except i dont have an upgraded exaust manifold. I wonder how much that will help? I read somewhere that engines that run with water/ethanol injection had cleaner motors too. That is one of the reasons I thought it would be a good idea. Thanks for the responses.

It is tuned for pump gas. So I take it people either dont like the water/ethanol injection idea for a little more hp or people dont know how to tune for it. Alright ill see what else i can do. I guess I will try it when I get back and ill let you guys know how it goes.

You need a standalone to really reap the benefits of water/meth. You can run allot more timing w/ it. Which is where you make the power. Atleast thats what ive read about so far about the subject. Of course you could turn up the boost and try to monitor knock. I was looking into methanol injection but im in the same boat as you. Rom tuned ecu w/ piggyback. Im just going to use nitrous and race gas lol.

Yeah I pretty much agree with everyone here, and I have water/methanol injection on my SR. Get a standalone first. With a good tuner you will probably gain a fair amount of power even on pump gas. If you only want a little more power for a random race maybe get a race gas tune also on your standalone. Even if you go water/meth for more power all the time, a standalone will be the best idea to tune with.
