So I just got a set of brand spanking new te-37 in 9.5 +12 but the damn thing hits my front coilover (the lip of the back of the wheel rubs on, i believe collar of coilover).
I have searched but I could of swore I once saw a thread saying that certain coilovers may provide better more room for the back of the wheels... ? I have an ancient set of Tein HA that I know I need to replace but was wondering if any particular set would help me clear? Im barely toching the coilover so I know if i had like a 3mm spacer it would clear but the whole point of buying these wheels was to not run spacers and i have seen people run them in this size... any help?

my old set of KBEE's had plenty of clearance. So did my Apexi 99 Spec ones

So youre gonna spend hundreds on new coilovers instead of paying like $50 (or less) for some spacers?

Yes.... i will spend a thousand or two on good coilovers... why not? ive spent over 3k on wheels and tires ...

makes sense to me =)

i have some coilovers for sale if you got some money to throw away.

apexi exv with 1500k i ran them with 17x9+12 18x10+0 18x9 +7 18x9 +15 (all for front) no rubbing.

Im guessing you're running 17s, if you had 18s, they would clear. Lip will sit right in between the springs.

17x9.5+12 clear my DMAX.

They don't clear my friend's cheap Apex'i's. Not sure what model they are, they're the cheap ones though.

They clear my friend's Megan Racing Track as well.

I think it depends on the angle of the holes drilled in the lower bracket, along with how big the diameter of the spring is.

Well, you're other option is to slot the coilover's lower bracket to let the wheel slide out a bit. Gheto but it works.

Anyways, stay away from MRs, they suck for wheel clearance. I had a set in my S14 in the states when I was running 17x10 +12 FN01s. Had to add 8mm spacers to barely clear them (still rubbed the spring, had to adjust it from time to time to let the lip sit between). On my current S14, im running 18x10 +18 Equips with no spacers on a set of Topline Aragostas. Got probably another 4mm of clearance.

Hey guys thanks for all the reply, sorry for the lack of info they are 18x9.5 +12 up front. it hits the actual springs turns out, are you saying i can rotate the spring to fit the lip into the slot? wont the spring move around a bit, eventually causing me grief?

i was just looking at the coilover right now and was thinking about how i can slot it to angle it out haha yeah it is ghetto but i figure at least i can rock the damn wheels for now...
i was thinking about the D-max they look tuff. let me do some research jimmytang00 and i will get back to you, but i like to buy things new =/

Yup, jack the car up, put the wheels on, turn the springs so the lip sits between the springs. Lower it and see if its touching or not. If its not, leave it. The spring will spin but doesnt spin as much as you'd think. Usually the whole strut will turn as a unit but the spring will eventually spin. I think mine would spin once every month or so. Just lift the car up a bit so you dont have weight on it and turn the spring again. Or you can figure out a creative way to keep the spring from spinning.

just as fliprayzin240 said you can knotch the top hole where your coilover bracket bolts onto spindle. most alignment shops as well as my shop does it also which will help with your clearance issue and if your a cheapass save tires by giving you more camber positively. Note some coilover companies actually had a notch built into it where you can have a cam bolt to actually adjust camber and clearance issues with your wheel. i know older cusco coilovers had em and someother companies whereas i dont remember.
