VORSHLAG/AST U.S.A. Can Make S-Chassis Camber/Caster Plates If Theirs Enough Interest

I spoke to Terry from Vorshlag Motorsports/AST USA in reference, to my interest in a set of camber plates that either incorporate added caster or have adjustable caster. As i just purchased a set of AST shocks for my S14 via one of their distributors (Performance Shock Inc.)

I wanted to know if the AST camber plates had any caster added in the design, Terry measured it & replied "no".

He mentioned that there were ideas of making a set of Vorshlag camber plates which would incorporate added caster in them, as they due on their other applications, but due, to not enough interest (????) they have no plans unless they have a minimum of 20 individuals who may be interested in the purchase of a set of front plates. If a possible group buy is done, he mentioned there is some added cost savings & they can be available in about 2 months.

The features that i think are superior, in their design philosophy is the use of a larger quality camber plate strut bearing for added safety & longevity, the use of their upper spring perch with the pressed in radial bearing for less coil binding, as well as the added, or even possible adjustability of caster in a manner that is more secure than i think the Noltec design, also the stack height is kept to a minimum.

I emphasize the issue of adding caster via the top in order to allow, for a more centerd wheel within the front fenders especially for guys who track S-chassis cars & are running lots of pos. caster via adjustable tension rods & have their cars dumped; unless you have tubbed inner fenders you run out of room quick.

I also know the other alternative, is to add caster on the shock towers by modifying them, or raise your car backup, but i think this can be an all in one alternative. I know that Noltec & Ground Control make these for the S13 & S14
but have their flaws in their designs... & could be better.

Heres some links for reference of their designs & possible ideas.

Totally baller ~ anyone putting together a system like Option did would LOVE Vorshlag top mounts lol.

I can vouch for the caster adjustment problem - I had to tub my fenders long ago, and because the only adjustment comes from the tension rod, your caster measurements are more often than not a product of wheel fitment, i.e. you have to set your caster based on where the wheel is in the wheel well, rather than what you actually want your camber curve to look like.

What's the expected price with 20 buyers?

If you saw on the Vorshlag links, the pricing for other vehicles, i would assume it may be a little less than than that but regardless if nobody is interested; the pricing is irrelevant

and by the way it has nothing to do with being a baller what it has to do with is having the opportunity to help design as well as bring something to the market that has no compromises & is far beyond the crap that is sold out their; which allows the component to be used in the vehicle safelly & without having to hack anything up just to make something work.

I dont know about you guys but i don't have the time to be fiddling with half ass parts & thats why i would rather pay little more than have to piece some contraption together

FYI.
1. HKS makes it already for the same price
2. if you do want to make it, you can tell them it'll also fit AE86
3. I did that on our D1 car by slotting the shock towers.
good product just too baller for s chasis market

is your D1 car an AE86?

glad to know HKS makes something like this

i went on their site & saw a pic of the plates; is the camber & caster adjusted undependently from each other? in other words you don't have to loosen both adjustments in order to adjust camber for example.

also do these come with a spring perch or just the plates?

no, it was a S14 I just drill holes in front of the existing shock mount holes and slotted them oval.
this was the car,
Project D1S14
scroll down for more photos.
AE86/S13/S14 has the same camber plate design/holes.
please contact HKS about their product we no longer carry their product due to their constant price change(higher).
thank you

just build them already...... the customers will come

i mean why bother with some test-marketing thread when most of the people here are fuckin bullshit window shoppers. just make it, if one build thread shows a good product and then you'll have some sales.

just dont make too many or else you'll be stuck with a shitload of nice parts that few will buy

Hey, i wish it was up to me but i am not Vorshlag
"i am only a messenger"

i also posted this on the Nissan Road Racing forum but nobody seems to have enough interest

i am very dissapointed at the way people think

i am from the train of thought were you buy a quality component that works the first time they are installed & require no mod. to the veh. itself unless totally necessary instead of trying to come up with some contraption or some half ass hacking of the car.

For that matter leave the car alone (stock) or save your hard earned money & buy a new car that does everything well

in order for them to make these as i said before i need a list
of 20 individuals

I'm going to burst your bubble here.

You're talking about 240SX owners. 15 years ago, even 10 years ago, your points were valid, when the cars were newer, the aftermarket was more expensive, and owners were serious about their cars. Not anymore.

Out of every member on this forum I can think of less than two dozen people who even understand the product you're trying to see produced, and half of them can't afford it. 99.9% of 240SX owners are cheap. Shortcuts, hack jobs, janky solutions with rigged and half assed shit, that is the way of the 240SX owner of today. If they can't get it for less than $100 or have their friend put it in on 20 minutes, they're not buying it.

Great product. Wrong market.

1. if HKS makes them already and they don't sell/no one knows about it, then what's the point making another one.
2. building a race/track car is hacking it up doing whatever possible especially on a budget to compete, either buy a $450 camber plate or slotting the holes on a $1,000 chasis that's build to hit the wall.
3. no one is going to spend money on a $450 camber plate to replace their camber plate they already have on their coilover system just to adjust caster.

it would be a great idea for a high end coilover company to use these camber plates on product, but not by itself.

in the end the S chasis market is only good for low end parts, companies that makes high end stuff will eventually go out of business or stop making parts for s chasis.

I dunno I'm just guess from dealing with S chasis community since 1999.

not to bump a month old thread but... what happened with this? and i dont understand why it would be so expensive to produce.

I was actually thinking about slotting the strut tower and ovaling out the center hole so i could do this but i dont really like the jank level...

and does anyone have the link to the HKS one?

is it also 450 dollars?!

I would assume you don't have a good understanding of what goes into manufacturing a quality product
I think $450 is actually a very reasonable price for a product of this quality.
(HKS is actually closer to $600)
