Unhappy Luck is not on my side today.

So as most of you know I got my car not too long ago. I am also in the process of moving, and today my dad was supposed to drive the car out to where I am moving since I was in school.

So it was raining all bad today (most of you know where this is going). And he is on his way to the new house driving down the street and someone speeding comes down the street and slams on the brakes becuase my dad is driving with caution cuz of the whole RWD + rain thing. Of course this guy doesn't have ABS so next thing you know he hits my dad (not that hard), but sends my dad into a spin. He hops the curb and hits a fire hydrants (barely hit it), and then hits a tree.

Luckily he wasn't going that fast and was wearing his seatbelt so he is alright. The car isn't lookng the greatest. He needed someone to pick him up so i wen to pick him up and saw the car.

The back right tire pushed in from the bottom, the front right tire has some scuff marks from the fire hydrant. the front bumper was pushed in a little on the right side, the lip disconnected from the right front fender, and the fender is ripped up. The fire hydrant took out my sidemarker, cracked my front signals, took out my antifreeze pipe, and some outher parts in that area fell apart (not too sure what they were). The rear right fender hit the tree I guess, it got dented on the wheel well, and the rear bumper took some scratches.

The person who hit him ran away. The insurance was just ordered on the car, but the tow truck guy said that it will probably end up being a total loss, so I will have to fix it all.

Mainly the rear alignment needs to be fixed, replace and paint the rear fender and the front fender, and front bumper. The rear bumper didn't take too much damage. Also need to fix a few things that got damaged on the front right.

At least now I will get the entire car repainted. And there are some donor cars in a junkyard nearby. Not to sure when it will be fixed, with the purchase of the house we are strapped for cash. So prolly won't be fixed for a while, good thing I don't really need the car right now.

No pics of the car, forgot to bring my camera.

Now I will not be able to bring the 240 to the 240 meet on Sunday (bad timing ), but I'll come in the ever so famous Camry.

What sucks most was I didn't drive the car that much (due to no insurance on it).

Only thing good about this is I get the car repainted, but prolly going to be a long downtime

RWD + Rain + *sshole drivers + semi-bald tires = and for me

Man thats super weak!

I dunno if you should fix it tho. It would probly be more cost effective to look for a new one. Was it insured at the time it was hit?

Awwwww jeeze. Sorry to hear that man. Hopefully everything turns out okay. Man I feel you, mine was out of comission for nearly a half a year.
This guy hit my friends car from the back one time and he swerved out infront to get away and we followed him all the way to this Giant parking lot where he got out and started walking fast to the door. Needless to say we got out and caught him. I think I broke his jaw. And most definatly gave him a concusion. I took his wallet and gave it to my friend. There was some compensation in that. Knock on wood no police were around and I didn't get caught. I really hate people that think they can get away w/something that could damage lives. He didn't know if my friend was mad poor or lost his job thus not being able to find a new one because his car was damaged. Alot of people are just trash. Hope all goes for the better KidDyno.

That sucks to hear. Hope your dad is doing well. He should watch it the next couple days when soreness and muscle strain can occur from an accident. Anyway, did you happen to go look for the car that hit you? Most likely, he lives down the street. Well good luck with your car.

damn Kid, I'm sorry bout your car, that sux man. The most important part is that your dad is ok. I hope the thing with insurance works out for you, i hate when people hit and run, it shows how much of a coward they are. Did your dad happen to see what kind of car is was? If he did you could probably see if there are any cars nearby that have damage done to them, and somehow you can prove it was that one. Hopefully you can work it all out by fixing it or getting a new better s13. Good luck

My dad called for insurance yesterday, but he couldn't get in contact with the right people, so as of now there wasn't any so not too sure exactly what will happen with that.

He was driving pretty slow (20 in a 25) and the odd thing is that it was in front of a police station, well down the street, surprised no cops were around.

Not to sure if I wil keep it either, depends on the damage to the axle and such. It might be more cost effective to find another one, or hopefull a really cheap 89 or 90 with a dead engine and swap it in. Good thing I have plenty of time before I actually need a car.

Although I really liked that car, the color the lip, and interior condition. If I can find a 240 with a good body and ****ty engine I could juss swap in the interior and still use the lip. I just need to find a place to keep the car.

that SUCKS, dude.

but they're right. SOHC 240s are a dime a dozen. just get another one. it's totally not worth trying to fix it. just take the lip off and keep that for whatever one you get. you might even be able to find a decent 91.

Damn I hate people that flee an accident scene. These people should be hung.. (well, maybe not but still, they **** me off).

Hopefully you'll find another one. Luckily for you, finding a decent 240sx in the US is much easier than here in Canada.

Damn sorry dood...I'm glad your dad is okay.

Just remember....a car can be replaced.....not someone's life.

Just to let you know.....insurance on a 240SX is a bitch and in your case....your car is totaled. If I were you.....I would keep the front lip and part out the car or just find another one and let the insurance do what they want with the body. Unless you REALLY have the patience, money, and time to fix this one up.

As for where to place the car.....if possible place the car on the side street infront of your house or in an available, valid parking spot. Make sure your throw a car cover over it so cops will not pester you.

Sorry to hear about your car... Been in that position before! Worst part is when people see you and dont even bother to help you out Its bad enough the guy that hits you runs away but even worse when no one checks to see if youre at least ok.
Itll be alright anyways, if the car is a loss... youll find a better one in due time! Just hang on and be patient

Yea, it was raining badly here on wednesday and thursday. I almost got in an accident on wednesday myself. I was at a stop sign and my car just spun out for some reason onto the oncoming traffic, luckily it was empty. I have 0% tread on my entire left side so yea, its worse for me. I cant wait to put on my new tires today. Hope to see both of you guys at the meet tomorrow, james and KiD =]

It's a good thing my 240 has been sitting pretty in a garage in Madison all week. Safe in suburbia where nothing bad ever happens, well except last winter when some kid lost control of his blazer and slammed into my neighbors garage, put a hole in the wall and knocked some shelves over onto a vintage porsche. But otherwise...oh wait the drug dealer bust......(I'm really not making this up).

Actually I was almost hit on wednesday too. I had to pick up my girlfriend downtown around 11pm, right after the really heavy rain. Taking lake shore drive and I figured out early on that the side lanes were full of deep puddles but the middle two were relatively "dry". About a mile from my exit some guy comes flying by me (ok maybe 5mph fatster) in an old astro van on my left side. Hits a huge puddle and covers the windshield with a sheet of water. When it clears I see him hydroplaning and is coming into our lane, I got over, and he corrected after crossing into the lane by about 75%. Just a bad day to drive in Chicago.

To revive this from the dead, I got my car back a couple days ago, haven't had anyone look at it yet, it's just in my garage. I took some pics (still no internet at my house till friday, so can't upload em yet).

From the looks of it (and comparing to the FSM of the euro 200SX S13. The lower link is bentm and so is the front upper link (might have the names wrong, but you get the point.

Not sure when I'll decide to fix it, but got too much going on to worry about it. Hopefully end of the month it'll be fixed. Probably send it to a mechanic to get a full estimate this weekend.

It's kinda sad looking at my car in my garage whenever I go through it to get to my house
