Fan clutch is cooked... =\

Well several days ago I noticed a strange whirring noise coming from under the hood, varying with RPM, and apparently that's why. The fan can still be turned by hand, but it feels rough and doesn't spin freely.

Now I'm gonna junk this engine fairly soon (150k KA24DE) so it's not worth buying a new part for $90, but I figure I can find a good used one between people parting out cars/engines and others converting to electric. But how bad is it to keep driving on it temporarily, as long as I keep the revs down say under ~3.5... I don't wanna have my fan shatter obviously, and I will replace it asap. I just don't know how much I should worry about it.

What's the weather been like near you? If it's not too hot already, you could probably just take it out and let the A/C fan do some extra work until you get a replacement. (as long as it isn't going to be too long).

80F is about as hot as it's likely to get for a week or two. Just changed my coolant last month, so that's in good shape... but still I don't think I feel comfy running without a fan.

Dude why wast money even with people parting out cars. Ever heard of junkyards/wreckers? It's my job to go around and get parts for my shop, and every wrecker i go to is full of 240sx's usually you can pick one up for like $10

yeah I probably should. Just can't seem to find time to go to a yard, I'm away from home every weekend and at work all week. Easier to buy stuff online
