cost? wow you must be SUPER rich
exterior (front): http://www.jspec.com/s15conversion.html rear: taillights can be found on ebay easily interior: next to impossible but it can be done-wont fit dash in some 240sx, will fit in s13 coupe, not sure about s14..probably will be HUGE gaps on ends (near apillar). seats are 400-500 a pair rear seats probably near 300ish engine etc: expect to pay near 10K-15K for JUST the engine and front clip (no seats). should have dash and wheel. you cna use the clip to make your car RHD body work for lights will run a few Gs. probably near 3 body work and paint probably 4-5 gs (front end perfection) all in all, near 30K a real waste of 30k as well also your car WILL NOT look like s15. if you'v seen pics of a s15 and seen pics of 240sx (s13 and s14) youw ill be NOTHINg close. s15 b pillar is VERY different. also the whole body lines. you'll be a wannabe s15. i gave high estimates. not everything will work as expected. regardless of whether he has a s13 or s14, the cost associated with taking on a project like this would undoubtably cost more than having motorex bring you a s15 which would be newer, faster, and have less miles. Lame project man, if you have that much money to toss around, find a better idea. |

yeah i agree with these guys
the only conversion that is worth while is the 95-96 to 97'8 conversion then again just buy a 98 (but often they are too pricey

Heres what you do. Import an S15. Buy an extremely cheap S14 with a salvaged title, then swap the VIN plate from the S14 to the S15 and register it as a 240sx. You'll have an S15 silvia swapped onto your 240sx VIN plate!!! Unless you're in California, the DMV will never know.

Seriously tho....how many parts from an S15 can be swapped onto an S14 before its no longer considered a 240sx???? Theres gotta be a way to get the S15 registered. What about all those AC Cobra kit cars that are built from a tubular frame and random kit parts....and a random engine? Those get registered and driven on roads right??

number a, its not just a random engine. the engines people put in 'kit cars' are already DOT approved and fully legal. theres no way to import and legalize an S15 short of crash tests and legal work.

there is a lot more to it than that i think. look at motorex, the rb26 is a legal motor, IN a skyline, but not in other cars, im not positive but i think thats how it is, that engine was meant for that car, not for others, just because its legal in a skyline, doesnt make it legal in a 240, correct me if im wrong

Well if you are serious I have some parts that can help you.
I spent like 2 years previously to do a conversion like you wanted. I had almost everything. I then started parting these things away, the only thing I have left of use for you is the rear conversion: S15 Rear Bumper S15 Rear Trunk Lid S15 Rear Taillights I also have the S15 Fog Lights if anyone is interested in them or the parts listed. Email me. Do not post a reply because I will probably not see it. |

Just do a front end conversion along with a matching side and rear, then paint the whole car......cost AROUND $6,000
Do not swap in a S15 SR......just go for the S14 SR and swap the turbo to an S15 turbo. But if you really have money...... just save up and buy a G35 Coupe, but a Nismo kit on it and wait for Greddy to come out with the twin turbo kit. <-- wishes he can do that

if you want the sickest conversion
do one like the kazama s1345 its a silvia front s14 body s15 rear with the wide fenders than you would have the best of all silvias |

S15 widebody kit is pretty sick.
Just get an S14 and do the exterior S15 conversion, and S15 widebodykit. For interior, get the S15 steering wheel, and guages, and a set of Bride seats with Harness. Don't bother with S15 interior conversion, and the rear seats do not fit well. Also for engine, get an S14 engine, and put in a 2.2liter Tomei stroker kit, with T51R SPL turbo, and you'll be pushing ~ 500hp. For rims, get Volk Racing GTP or Nismo LM3s... With widebody, you can fit 19x9 in front and 19x11s in the rear!! I've got an S14.5, but its my dream to put all the stuff above in my car.. |

As for the people telling him to "just" import the car, it is absolutely impossible without DOT and EPA certified crash test data. And that goes for any RHD vehicle. (click here and read 3rd paragraph ) Hell I tried almost a year to get a J-spec FC3S TII (they were really tempting considering they are like $5500 shipped) over here and it just wasnt worth the hastle. Your only option would be to bring in an S15 as a "parts car" (which you can get into the country with no problems) then transfer everything onto an S14 shell (from a junk yard or what not). The only major modification nessesary (aside from the conversion itself) is to remove the S14 firewall, and try to fit in and weld the S15 firewall (so that everything will match up for the RHD conversion).
In all honesty, you'd probably save money in the long run going this way, if you do all the work yourself. Last edited by fiebru1119; 05-20-2003 at 10:12 AM.. |
