turning car off... engine keeps turning for a bit
Hey all, I just installed an electric fan into my S13 with a KA to replace my stock clutch fan.
Now when I turn off my car it doesn't seem to just shut off right away. It seems like the engine keeps turning to a stop like for 3-5 seconds after I turn the car off. It never did this before when I had my clutch fan on. Is this just because the fan isn't connected to the fan pully anymore, thus has no resistance to stop? Is this normal with electric fans? Is this going to cause any problems? Thanks, Kevin

yah this happens to me too... it seems pretty normal to me it doesnt bother me... how is your fan wired???
when i had my stock ac fan wired, it was wired to my ignition wire so that the fan would be on constantly when the engine was on and turn off when i shut the car off.. i think it has something to do with that... not sure though.. ![]()

Yeah. My fan is wired to the ignition. It is on whenever the car is on. I'm getting a thermostat control for it soon, so I'll let you know if that changes anything. It could just be something to do with the power draw right when you shut the car off. Who knows..

it could be that the fan is actually holding in some of that current...get a relay to turn the fan on and off...that should solve it.
