Passenger Airbag Storage Compartment?

So Ive been planning on moving my underhood fuse box inside the car but couldnt decide where. I was driving around and looking at the gaping hole in the dash, where the passenger airbag used to be, and thought "maybe I can shove the fuse box in there!" So I started searching to find some precedence, and only found one article on google with the airbag compartment converted for storage.

Here is the link to the site: AEM Honda S2000 - Car Audio and Electronics Magazine

The airbag has been blown for over a year, so I kinda feel like that is just wasted space now. Does Any one have any insight as to how this may be done and not look like total crap, or has anyone out there done it? Does anyone think this could even work? Is It a good place to even keep the fuse box?

The main purpose for relocating the fusebox inside is to shorten the harness. Putting it on the passenger side of the dash doesn't solve that, you're still keeping the harness long.

Look at mounting the box in pieces (it comes apart) under the steering column. Then make yourself a storage box if you want for the airbag hole. That's the cleaner option.

I originally wanted to put it under the steering column, but the aftermarket alarm and associated wiring takes up alot of room there. Plus, that way I dont have to lay on the floor to check any of my fuses, and There will be tons more room in the engine bay, which is my main concern.
