I just got this new alarm with a remote start and don't know if it will work with my s13. I have searched all over and some pages say it will work with some manual trans but others say it takes lots of work to work on am auto and will not work on a manual. Long story short does anyone have a remote start on there 5spd or heard of it being done.

I myself have a S13 with remote start. If you take it to someone to install it (ie Best Buy, Car Toys, or most alarm place), they will not install it on a maual. NOT because it is hard, but it's a liability. They don't want to be resposible for damages if you remote start your car while in gear.

As for install, it's installed exactly the same as an automatic, except you will need to by-pass the clutch switch. (the switch is used for safety, requiring you to press on the clutch inorder to start so if you're in gear, the car won't leap forward or backwards.)

I have a s14 and i have a remote start on my car and a local car stero place installed it. It is kinda a pain in the a$$ though. to get it to work befor shutting off the car you have to pull the e brake and step on the brake and then it will beep. you then take the keys out but the car still runs. when you shut your door your car shuts off. then the remote start will work. you cant just push the button. i dont ever use it.

Jr has one on his car. It will not work if the ebrake has not been pulled up. I know though that in the states you will have trouble finding someone else to install it for you unless you have an automatic. Jr. installed his own...it aint too hard to do.

yep i got one, the smog check guy left it in gear.. and whoop.. leaped forward.. not too hard though.. good thing his car stoped mine =)
