Tail light fuse keeps blowing
How's it going. My s13 keeps blowing tail light fuses. Ive done some research and still can't find a short in the wiring. When I first noticedmy tailights out I realized that there wasn't a fuse in it but it was straight wired. I noticed it was a lil bit melted. I put a fuse in and it blew by the time I got home (15 min) later. I replace it with a 25A. Fuse and It blew that one too. I've searched the fuse box and the tail light connections for any wire that might be damaged but can't find any. I saw something on here about an orange wire behind the cd player that could cause this. I see it is connected to a red wire w/ blue line I'm all out of ideas about what to check.
If u guys have any ideas let me know. Thanks in advance |

The wire is called illumination and if it grounds out then it blows. The tail lamp fuse is tied in with your dash lights. So If you ground the wire the lights go and the fuse blows. My illumination wire is not connected to anything and it grounded out. I taped off the end so it cant be grounded, swapped the fuse, and it fixed the problem. For now. It works for me so give it a shot bro.

Don't replace the fuse with a higher amp one, that's how a fire starts. I believe the side marker wires are also tied into the Tail Lamp fuse, along with the cluster illumination and tail lamps. Follow the wires and see if they are grounding out somewhere.
