5.0 swap into s13
Hey Zilvia ppls, I'm getting ready to start the install of the 5.0 into my 89 s13 coupe, and was wondering if anyone out there has done one of these yet. Looking for any little tips, secrets, ideas that anyone has. Also pics would be great. Got the car, got the engine, time to make it happen!
Thanks guys |

Please be the first to do this, and video tape and document it well... my wife wrote off my 93 ford f250, and I have a spare 5.0 I'd like to swap in.
EDIT: FOUND ONE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqbNf...eature=related Things to keep in mind -transmission choice/adaptation to fit the interior in the right spot so the shifter sits where you want it, as well as an adapter plate -hood fitment -width of engine against the struts and BMC -exhaust placement -engine management + fuel delivery (motec/vipec/haltec with 300lph+ pump) -engine mounts need to be custom -Oil pan clearence to your front subframe+swaybar/lower suspension arms Expect to spend about $3000 on custom fabrication to get this to fit right if you don't have the skills to do it yourself. Cheers!

^Thanks for that video too.
Do EFI, not Carb if you can. And make sure to spend the money on engine management to get the most out of it. Personally, this thread has me wanting to do a supercharged-efi-motec engine build with low comp pistons right now... hate you guys, I'm already $5000+ into my KA24DET engine and still dont' have turbo, computer, or fuel done yet. lol

Its not that hard to do the swap just like anything else it take's time.
Use the engine mounts off a ford explorer 1998 model year, and the like. You'll just have to drill out the motor mount holes alittle on the nissan cross member , then use a front sump oil pan from ford with the front sump oil pick up. You'll have to mod the oil pan a little but not much, or just notch out the cross member and re-box it in. T-5 tranny if you want 5-speed you can use the stock nissan trans mount cross member just drill extra hole for the tranny then hard mount it with out rubber mount. The shifter will sit a bit forward but not to bad just a little cut here and there on the shifter hole area. Then use a shifter handle with a set back like an old school pistol grip shifter. Now use the ford harness and splice to fit with interior harness and other wires need to run. Not to hard, again just takes some time to get it right the first time. You'll also have to mod the steering shaft with an extra U-Joint and a shaft, if you want to use all the ford headers with out modifying them. Oh yea, you'll have to bang the firewall to get the trans bell housing to fit as well. Now, I'm going to try and use my existing clutch slave and re-run it to the left side of the trans and fab a mount to mount it where I need it and see how it works out. Others are going with the Ram Clutches hydro throw out, with a willwood M/C. And last for me is using my P/S pump and fabing a bracket for it then just making it work with the 5.0 belt system and using the 5.0 P/S pulley. But again others Use the Ford Explorer Pump and HP line, flared both side of the Lines from steering rack to the P/S line and the the Nissan Res, and it's done. Hope some of this helps you and others out. If you want all the goods and guys doing the 5.0 and there swaps check out silviav8.com and go to build treads. look for ( Nissan tuff with ford stuff) in the title and that's guy I'm getting my info from, and others like him. Okay guys I'm out time for bed. Take care later dudes...

Why fuel injected, you'r not worried about emission. Carb gets same power as efi, just a little more pollution and waste a little more gas while idling.

With a carb, you can find a sweet spot, but its a smaller sweet spot pending on your fuel type, and setup.

Now if this were a 2011 5.0 motor, I'd be excited. The LS1 is this thing's bitch.
http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...L-Crate-Engine Almost makes me wanna buy a '99 V6 Stang and swap this in... |

You put that motor in a 240 and you will kill everything! I have read that the Coyote with a manual tranny and a Hellion Turbo Kit made over 600 to the wheels completely stock just turbo kit and if I remember correctly like 700ft lbs!

Humm.. very interesting premise... But I thinka ll around a LS1 would be better but if you have to motor just laying around DO THAT SHIT... Besides 302's sound fucking lasts with a nice exhaust. I know the run real nice 1/4 et's with sticky tires and mild cam. not sure how they'd deal with drift abuse, but still cool none the less.
