how long does a ka24de last before a rebuild?

hey guys

probably a silly question, but i got an obd 2 ka24de and its running strong, im at 172k miles run like new, i change the oil every 3-5k with synthetic every time.

i'm just wondering how long these motors last! not that i am complaining, just a curiosity question. when would a rebuild be necessary and all that good stuff.

im pretty sure nobody has a good answer for you, like he said to many factors. if you have the money or the know-how, at this point if its on your mind why not just get it done? better safe than sorry.

There is no expiration date/mileage on any engine.
Just ask the guy with the accord he drove a million miles.

My KA is at 272k and still running strong after tons of abuse i am swapping it but if i wasnt i am sure it would put on a ton more miles with no problems.

My 91 dual cam lasted me 242,000 till it just died one day while idle.
After breaking it down it ended up being a seized up rod bearing in cylinder three. Block was fine but crank was still machineable but I scrapped it. still have the block.

I'd say somewhere between 200-275k miles before a head gasket or oil pump claim it. It also depends heavily on maintenance and abuse.

^ agree, that there are a lot of factors.

In my '92 I had over 180k on my original motor before I swapped it, wish I had kept it though.

Mine is at ~195k and still running strong.

i got the "its a 90k motor i swapped in" when i got the car from the previous owner (at 172k). But i took that with a grain of salt.

KA's will last exactly 315,432.02 miles before exploding into a billion pieces.

doesn't matter if you do regular oil changes or not.

Yeah mines at 170k, and the odometer stopped working about two years ago. I beat the shit of it, bounce the rev-limiter on the daily, change the oil whenever I feel like it (very rarely), and it takes it like the dirty slut it is.
