i guess you can say the vet started it by painting the car. But as far as the the situation becoming physical, it was the owner of the car. Bottom line the young guy is screwed, assault > vandalism.

^ yep. cannot cause physical harm over property damage. vet has advantage if he decides to take legal action. the smart thing to do would have been to simply record him spraying the car and make sure he got his plate number.

But the fact of the matter is... Was it really necessary for the teens to over react to the paint on the car? No one likes to have their personal vehicles vandalized but at the same time for those of us that take pride in our investments there is a thing called insurance* as well as WD and clay-bar.....

The real question here is... What if the hate crime was toward more current sensitive issues like today?

Would those that feel as if the vet. deserved this (beating) would of been in the wrong if the owner of the vehicle was a Middle Eastern???

The story is he is retired navy and today is the pearl harbor anniversary, and he also got fired from gm because of all the foreign cars, thats what he told the cops anyways. Yes I broke his leg when he tried to get away I slammed his door on it as hard as I could, and he got a really good ass whoopin from someone that cage fights

this is a tough one.

If I caught someone spraying my car, would be really hard to hold back a beat down.
I can sorta empathize his the dude flipping out & beating the other guy up, even though I wouldn't go that far myself.

On the other hand, it is going too far not only to beat him that bad, but to humiliate the guy like that with the video
(I guess it's more important to brag than cover your ass legally).
Both are going to get in some sort of legal trouble, but I see the kid going to prison.

On one of the evo fourms, according to the kid that was involved and owned the evo the vets leg was broken after the vet had spit in the kids face and called him a couple racial names then attempted to flee to his car at which point the kid slammed the vets car door while the vet was entering his car which broke the vets leg...then the kid proceeded to beat the crap out of the vet

the kid had lucky known the arresting officer which is the reason why he isnt in any trouble at the moment

as far as i see it...both the vet and the kid are both in the wrong

1)This all could've been avoided if the kid had bought a Mustang.

2) Since the kid is ALREADY going to face assault charges, and is ALREADY an idiot for recording the aftermath, he should've punched the guy in the mouth while he was trying to explain himself. That adds humor to a sad situation..cuz really...nobody finds it cool that you beat up an old guy over spray paint that insurance will probably cover.

3) It's just a car. 5k isn't a lot to spend and CLEARLY none of that was body work so the guy didn't effect any of that. IT's just a car. The guy is old. Call the cops, go home, make post, get internet sympathy, have insurance fix it, continue being douche. Simple formula.

Man that was kind of hard to watch. Being a vet doesn't automatically make you a hero or give you free reign to spray paint vehicles. However being a sweet cage fighter bro doesn't give you the right to beat people up over things that could be handled in a way that works out more to your benefit. If that vet lawyers up and presses charges that kid is doing time. What he did was wrong but I don't think he deserved broken bones for it.

idk about any of you..but i would have done something similar. the spray painting is whatever youd obv be mad but then ontop of that the dude is calling you names after he defaced your property hes just adding fuel to the fire. in situations no one thinks oh my insurance will cover this they think my car is fucked. also how do you know he had comprehensive on the vehicle how do you also know he didnt have a 1000$ deductable. i would have tried to be calm but when that vet crossed the line i would have smacked his mouth too
