yes, i know this is for an FC, but it should work just the same on a 240. pretty cool, you can get that lazy eyed look now, and still have functioning headlights

misterT> Now you guys KNOW I click on anything lighting related, right?

hehe not bad not bad.. poor guy though, he's using a fog-light as a headlight! I cannot imagine that guy using those headlights for street-use, thats INSANE. The H3 bulb is designed for fog/driving lamp, NOT headlamp. Oh well..

Besides completely using the wrong headlight, the fog-light bracket design dont allow him to carefully adjust vertical and horizontal movement of the individual lamps. Since they are held together with U brackets, the lamps will eventually loosen and start to becom uneven.

Anyway, be careful when tinkering with those headlights guys.. its not as simple as it appears. You want to make sure you use the right bulb, the right headlight assembly, and you MUST make sure they are mounted correctly. Oh, and his headlights no longer retract.. he'd have to modify the lift components.

well, the article doesnt cover how to get the headlights to the right position, he didnt remove the motors, he just used a kill switch which is pretty common with the FC3S guys...you run an SPST switch from the fuse that controls the motors to the cockpit and you have to play around with it until you get it right

it'd be a good idea to get one of those "lazy eye boxes" if you did this mod.

anyways, im sure its not dot legal or whatever, but its pretty damned cool, and if it gives enough light to drive i would do it, because it looks cool as ####

you're right though, lighting is a serious business, it would suck to kill yourself because you wanted to look cool and ended up wrecking from bad lighting at night

Here's a countach with yellow pop-up lights with a similar light bezel to what I would fabricate.

Interesting, have you tryed to making up metal or fiber glass mounts for the 240, I did that for a friends 96 200sx NZ model fastback, and well you to get the lights individually sighted at the normal angle that the lights sit in natually now, that is the easiest way to do it, it means no modifing the motors................just got to make the mounts up with screw adjustments.

misterT> yeah, even though it may *look* cool, a headlight HAS to be function over form. If not, whats the point of even having headlights?

camppain> I know about the NisNack projector kit for the 200SX, I actually had a set sent to the shop several years ago. Build quality is not the greatest, but its not nearly as bad as APC's shit. The NisNacks projector kit *looks* okay but in terms of performance, it is WORSE than stock. The projector lenses are garbage and the H3 bulb is a joke. Anyone using those should know they're simply aesthetic. An H3 bulb *cannot* emit a proper headlight beam pattern. Its optically designed for foglights ONLY.

You're correct about the H3 only being for fog lights, or should only be used for fog lights.

But Miguel, must you be so negative

Not really negative just honest. Maybe he should use smilie's more. You could call someone a "bitchy ass pirate" and they would get mad. But if you say "your a bitch ass pirate " It's all perfectly fine (see the smilie on the end of my post makes it a "fun" post)
