Can someone explain?

Why anyone would downshift, when cruising at 50-55mph?
Just curious, but is it for response?
Is it for torque?
I ask why, because if you drop back 4-5 cars, what's the point?
I had 3 people do this to me last night, for what IDK, but it seemed pointless.

I think it may have something to do with the looks of my car as well, but just because my shit looks like a rice mobile doesn't mean that the driver is.s

My search revealed idiotic reasons for doing it! So yeah I'll just continue to laugh at them!

I got that much, but why would a street racer just give a random opponent a 5 length rolling lead? Whom said, that down shifting to what appears to be second gear, the best way to start a race from a roll? seriously they looked like idiots! If I would have had recorded it, you would have thought I edited it that way. 3 cars, 25mile drive, cars honking horns then dropping back 5 cars? I did accelerate to 65mph on the interstate while the Z dropped back.

I'm thinking that maybe on the dyno, it showed so kind of performance gain while down shifting. I dyno in 4th and WOT. from a 2500rpm hold by 3500rpm I'm at full boost 14-20 aprox same rpm. So I would just MASH the throttle instead of down shifting. I could even see downshifting to 3rd from 4th at that speed with a rev match. But IDK just a stupid post on my part, but it's bothering me a lil.

downshifting does give you better acceleration as just mashing it in gear. Most people would downshift for this reason. Why do people do it? Because they want to. Is it really something worthy of a thread or topic? No.
Why am I wasting my time responding and telling you this? I have a few minutes to blow off before the singer arrives.

Now this thread does need to be killed.

When your on the freeway, its not always about "racing".

Sometimes people like to play a cat and mouse type game and just speed through traffic together.

You never drove to vegas and found that other guy doing 100 plus and just followed his line, and when he gets blocked and you pass, then he just follows you for awhile??

And I personlally have NEVER had a side by side rolling start on the freeway.
Maybe they think your shitty 240 needs 5 lengths?
(and by shitty, i mean all 240s are basically shitty, outdated disposable cars)
