SR engine sputters on cold start. help.

hey guys, so i have a s14 sr20det in my s13 and it started to sputter now when its cold or hasnt been started in a day or two. it has the tomei poncams im not sure if these do it, but it didnt do that over the summer.

i turn the key and it turns over and sputters almost sounds like its going to stall, a couple times it did just shut off again but then it just revs up to its cold idle around 2 grand and once it warms up all the way it drives great, pulls hard and doesnt seem to have a problem at all.

any ideas why it would start like this?

Do the easy stuff first. Clean MAF, IACV, replace PCV valve.
You could possibly have a vacuum leak so check all your vacuum hoses. Good luck.

everything is new on mine tho, its only been on the road a couple months now and once it starts it runs perfectly fine so most of those things would cause it to sputter constantly correct?

would the throttle position sensor have any effect on that? it looks like someone broke off half the screw that keeps my throttle cable positioned. if they adjusted the idle with the tps, would it cause this? also is there a standard position for the tps, some way to get it back where it "belongs"?
