Quick Tire Question.

Currently I am running on 205/45/17 and want to upgrade to a wider tire. If they come stock from tire rack with 205's how wide do you think I could go? Possibly 225? 17x7's.

yea they will fit fine. Do you know what width your rims are? Also, you may want to run like a 225/40/17 to keep the the same overall diameter of the tire.

nooo...225/45/17 is closer to the stock diameter than 224/40/17.

205/45/17 and 225/40/17 are almost exactly the same overall diameter. I had the two sizes in the past and absolutely know for sure.

195/60R15 = 24.2"
205/45R17 = 24.3"
225/40R17 = 24.1"
225/45R17 = 25.0"

i know tires fairly well i have worked at discount tire for almost four years now and you can do the math pretty quickly in your head. just think about it like this. the first number is your "section width" the second number is the "aspect ratio" so a 225+40
is 225 milimeters wide with a side wall that is 40 percent of that so a 225+45+17 would be the same height as a 235+40+17 well damn close if not exact
