sr20 overheating problem

I just installed a temperature gauge on my upper radiator hose. Theres no leaks or anything anywhere, I put in new coolant and im letting the car idle to get all the bubbles out of the system. Well When it stops bubbling and then I see the coolant flowing and then soon after coolant just seems to start coming out of the top of the radiator and its steaming like crazy also and my gauge just continues to rise I have done this a few times now, I turned the car off before 210 degress, I dont get what is happening. I never had this problem before installing the gauge, I know I was never over heating, any help please?
