SR sr20det bleeder valve thread pitch

I've had an autometer water temp gauge in my car that never had the sensor installed and I've found the replacement one I need to buy and the thread pitch is 1/8" and I'd like to install it directly into the bleeder valve on the water inlet if possible as I don't want to go and buy an adapter and cut my rad hoses to install it. If the thread isn't the same anyone know if it's possible to re-thread the sensor to the thread of the bleeder valve?

This is what the sensor is btw
