I've done quite a bit of looking to figure out whats causing this sound on my KA24E (89 hatch)

it only occurs(or is only hearable) after 2200 rpm

in my research the possible answers i got where
timing chain guide
pre-detonation
ac line rattle
heat shield rattle
piston lash
bent rod
cam bearing
and i think i few others

any help diagnosing the problem would be appreciated.

I would say you slipped a rod bearing. That's the same sound my old ka made.
