Urgent help!!! Blew up stock rb25det turbo - Zilvia.net Forums | Nissan 240SX (Silvia) and Z (Fairlady) Car Forum

Blew up stock turbo, drove about 2 miles home with heavy smoke. Replaced turbo with another stock turbo today but found my wheel completely shattered on the old one! Removed piping and found the pieces running through air filter, intercooler piping all the way to my throttle body! No signs of oil traveling though. My question is how do I know if any made it inside the engine. Started car and it sounded fine except hearing pieces of the old wheel when lightly reving on throttle. Any help would be great! Also any advice on cleaning out intercooler would be greatly appreciated as well! Thanks in advance!

A bore scope would be great if you have access to one, inspect the plugs for damage also for damage

You should throw the fmic away. And remove the head so you can check how many pieces are now circulating on your piston heads

Ok cool thanks again Is the fmic unuseable? Or can you clean it out and remount it?

Pull you plugs, pull injector connects and fuel pump fuse, spread cloth over the engine bay and crank that souldja boy.

Should blow out any chunks you have in there. But you've run the engine already so the damage may be done.

Started motor Sounds healthy Majority of wheel was inside the crippling on hot side of fmic No oil made it through Safe to say I'm good Definitely appreciate you guys !

This guy will try anything you guys tell him and that's scary.

Since this is an rb25 turbo, get a magnet on a stick and stick it into the cylinder through the spark plug hole to fish out the bits.

I would love to sit and eat popcorn and watch as you try to do that

When this happens at work we always drop the oil pan and clean it out also. It's always full of debris. Then do an oil flush.

^that's pretty good advice. You might even need to Seafoam the engine just to make sure you get all the misc debris out

This happened to mine, and thats when I found out the intake wheel was some kind of nylon blend. I clean out my fmic and then replaced the turbo, but I wouldn't use the same stock one because chances are it will happen again, just my two cent.

No I replaced whole new turbo Everything remained on hot side of fmic Went in with a shop vac Clened cup longs and pipes with brake part cleaner
