R230 Diff in S13 Chassis Talk

Hey Guys,

I'm looking to purchase a R230 diff to replace my R200 Z32 NA diff. I know i need Z32 TT axle, Q45 axle, and Z32 TT hubs (30 spline). My question is for those that have attempted this, what did you use for mounting this bad boy into the rear subframe. Looking for some type of mustache bar to secure this thing as the diff is larger and mounting points are different. Need this beefy 9.05" ring gear and beefy axles to hold up to the 900whp 2J.

Thanks in advance for your input and pictures would be great.

I would highly recommend the 350Z or 370Z Differential instead of the TT Z32. More Final Drive and Differential options. take it from me i took out the Stock Twin Turbo R230 our of my Z and replaced it with an N/A Subframe.

Hmmm interesting. I've never looked into that to be quite honest. Can it hold up to many launches off the line? This is strictly a drag s13. I do like the longer final drive. I'll have to do some research and see what I need to make this work. Appreciate it

Ive done this in my S14, i cut up the subframe and relocated the mounts... wasnt that difficult, however if going thru all that trouble it maybe better to use a Ford 8.8 IRS rear end, cheap lots of differntials and ratios available.. only downside is custom axle cost.

Or just try and Use a Q45 or GTR rear end.. they bolt in and are much stronger than the S chassis R200's

Ive had good luck with my R230 setup, using stock VLSD cryo treated outputs and R32 GTR axles, im at 800whp thru a 5 spd.

I made a thread on this swap.
