im plannin to swap an sr20det into my 93 240sx automatic. ive been lookin online for sr20det engines and all ive seen is that they come with everything + a manual tranny...question is...i want to keep my car automatic transmission...can i just instead of installin the engine with the manaul tranny, replace it with my auto tranny with this swap? cuz i want to do the swap but want it to be an automatic as well

Understanding your preference in doing so, but why go the way of installing an Sr and wanting to retain the slushbox? Part of the fun in actually owning an Sr powered 240sx is the ability of keeping it in that high rev range right?

Not many folks have asked about keeping the auto tranny...was just curious as to why you do...nothing more.

the KA's transmission bellhousing won't bolt up to the SR. i think you can get an automatic from an SR. i read on an FAQ somewhere if you can get an auto for your SR and it said believe it or not most SR transmissions are autos, but that was a long time ago and i have no idea where that link went or even if the info was true at all.

You can get the Manual SR...and then order a new freaking transmission (an auto) for the Sr, and then get it put in in place of the manual stock...Most likly, the new transmission would also have to come from japan upping your cost a bit.
but yeah, part of the fun of an sr20 is having that nice rev and stuff, yah know?
Maybe u should teach your friend to drive stick

yeah do yourself and your friend a favor, teach him to drive stick, it's much more fun to drive and is safer in my opinion (brakes faster, and makes you concentrate on the road more instead of being lazy). might want to teach him on a different car, one without a 225+ hp turbo motor

I agree here. Tell your friend to stop being such a lazy ass, hehehe. Actually, i've got a friend that i've been trying to convince to learn to drive stick for over a year, but he just won't hear of it.
