Will 205/50/15 Falken Azenis mount on a 15x8 rim?

I know 205 can go 8" no problem usually...

I ask because the azenis have a stiffer sidewall and a shorter sidewall(50) compared to a usual 205/60 tire which is stretched.

Any ideas??

Yes but stretched azenis are kinda dumb IMO, IIRC Ben Schwarts has like 215s or 225s on a 9.

they will mount, but.. why?
that will be a pretty hella stetch, your rims will get dented if you hit a stone in the road...
but I don't think it will matter, because I don't know any tire shop that would mount a 205/50 azenis on an 8" rim. The place that did mine (on a 7" rim) bitched at me and said it was damn near impossible to get them on.

Yep, it will mount, but it will suck. Just about any tire will mount on a rim. I've seen a 275/40/17 on a 7.5 rim, looked like crap, but it mounted. Why do you want such a small tire? Get a tire that will fit flush with the rim, 215.... 225... You will be much happier.

it's because these are 15x8 -33 wheels that will need tires stretch to clear rear fender...

unless someone can recommend another tire that grips as well as azenis and comes in wider sizes for 15"....

All about what you want and how you are going to use it. Should of included it in the post, that way you would of gotten more "exact" answers.

the azenis are mounted on SE 7 spokes already.

i am not looking to get R compounds that are too pricey for me to afford. I have run on my azenis on the stock rims and they are great tires, so I see no need to change....

My wheel config is 15x7 +0 front 15x8 -33 rear

there is no way 15x8 -33 wheels are gonna fit under your stock fender ayways. You will have to do widebody first, in which case 8" wide wheels are a joke. you wern't thinking they'd fit under stock fenders did you? hahaha

Here's 16x8 -6 on my S14. despite what it looks like, camber is -2.

205 azenis will be fine on an 8 wide rim.

http://forums.son240sx.ca/album_pic.php?pic_id=226

205/55/16 on a 16 x 8

that doesnt look very stretched to me... it sat better than the goodyear RS-A 225's i had on there before actually.

STFU to people who bash things they havent ever done.

the wheels he has im guessing are eagle alloy 5 spokes 4lug. go to eagle wheels website they have pics on there and also driftaholic has them and posted them mounted on a old thread. they stick out about 4 inches past the rear fender if i remember correctly. rivit over fenders is the only way and would look pretty nice on a fastback

why do you want azenis if it is strictly a track car? azenis are good for real stick driver that autocrosses or maybe autocross tires if you don't want max grip and want a cheap tire to last all season.
I'd say for a track car that gets driven to the track, toyo proxes RA1's.. I have a set and I love them, grip all the way down to the cords...
For a straight out track car... hoosier has several tires that would be more appropriate.

Yes they do, get a side shot and you'll be able to really tell.

Now that you say they are going in the rear, you are not gonna fit them unless you do the cut and pull method of rolling fenders and pull them a lot.

correct, i will just transfer them for the time being. that time being until i can afford race rubber....

can ANYBODY tell me if i would be better off with a 205/50 azenis or a 225/50 AVS100? This is in terms of actual grip.

gogetta: you still don't get it do you? If you are really going for maximum grip, you wouldn't be using an 8" wide wheel in the first place, especially one that is gonna stick out 2".

i am trying to this on a college student budget! lol

I would love to do a 5lug conversion or get diamond racing wheels in the right size and nice and wide. I am sticking with 15s because the tires are cheaper.

I have pretty much counted out the 15x8 -30 because I dont want to deal with flares and huge negative camber.

that being said, if I had normal fitting 15x8s; how would 225/50 avs100 compare to 205 azenis?

ok, glad you figured it out. that being said, I'd still bet that the azenis would offer more traction than es100's, even though the yokohmas's are wider. Azenis are incredible tires.

If you really want to do it on a budget, now is the perfect time to get to know some racers. Go to lots of events and hang out with the people with money, make some friends, help change tires, etc. Then when their racing season is over, and they have partially used Rs laying around offer to take them off their hands.

I have obtained free Azenis, free and delivered Kumho ECSTA V700, and 75% new Yokohama Advan A032R S for $10.

My advice, from one poor college student to another, is to sell those wheels to some driftaz who will pay absurd amounts of money for anything with a lip on it, and then use the money to get real tires. Grip is more important than offset/looks

That is good advice.

Problem is, I have a season ahead of me of both auto-x and HPDEs and I need to get my setup for now figuared out....

I was looking into the 15x8 -33 because of wider wheel base(better handling) and coilover clearance, not looks or flushness....

yeah I did that too, got free toyo proxes. stick around the porsche cup guys, they always seem to replace their tires at 50% tread life.

the honda cup guys always seem to run theirs to the cords. why do you think THAT is?
